Advantage Behavioral Health Systems Miles Street Clinic
Advantage Behavioral Health is a Community Service Board. Community Service Boards (CSBs) were set up by the state to provide direct and immediate assistance to those requiring help. If you or a family member needs access to supports for mental health, developmental disability, or substance-abuse services, find the nearest Community Service Board (CSB) that can assist or provide a referral. As a CSB, Advantage provides services to those in Northeast Georgia.
Services Offered
Counseling/Therapy and Medical Services - Advantage provides outpatient clinic services for individuals age 18 and older with mental health and addictive disease needs. At our clinics, you can be assessed to determine your specific treatment needs and preferences, including counseling (group, family, and individual) and medication.
Clinic Based Individual and Family Therapy - Therapy is a way for professionally trained people to help you find ways to handle problems, develop skills, deal with stress, and make changes. Therapy often involves a lot of talking and listening; with children and teens, we work to incorporate their interests and activities, often involving games, sports, technology, music, and art.
School Based Therapy - We have well-established partnerships with most of the area schools, allowing us to provide counseling services on-site at schools.
Group Therapy - Helps children to understand their concerns are not unique to them, getting support and encouragement in their recovery. Group therapy gives children the chance to receive and give support and ideas with others. We design groups to have a specific focus, such as impulsivity, anger management, or depression. We also make them appropriate developmentally.
Mental Health Day Programs - Available to adults diagnosed with mental illness, Advantage's Mental Health Day Programs provide recovery focused services to educate about mental illness and to develop the strengths and skills needed to manage them. The programs provide structured, scheduled activities promoting socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, development of natural supports and maintenance of community living skills.
Remix/Youth Clubhouse - Remix is a 9 month resiliency clubhouse program that follows a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) model. Remix is an afterschool program that engages children and adolescents in fun activities while developing valuable life and coping skills. All these activities work toward the goal of building resiliency with mental health disorders by engaging youth and helping them manage their behaviors and symptoms.
Intensive Treatment Program (ITP)- ITP is a time-limited treatment service for adults who require structure and support to achieve and sustain recovery from substance related disorders. Services are offered 5 hours a day, five days a week-Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3:00pm and typically lasts 45 days, but the total length of treatment is dependent upon individual progress. The primary modality utilized is Group Counseling and Education but also included, based on individual need and preference, are Individual Counseling and Support, Educational Activities and an introduction to 12-step Process.
Women's Services Program - Provides residential treatment to pregnant women or women with children who have a substance-related disorder. If your children are in your custody and under the age of 12, they can live with you onsite while you're participating in treatment. Our goal is to help you identify and reach recovery goals, learn the skills you need to effectively parent your children, meet the goals/objectives of your Department of Family and Children services case plan, find housing, and find employment so that you can support your family.
Fees and Payment
Advantage serves all people who are eligible for treatment. Those not covered by Medicaid will be asked to pay a co-payment at the time of service based on their insurance plan. If you are uninsured, you may qualify for the State Assistance Program. Those clients will be asked to pay an amount determined on a sliding fee scale based on income.
If you are experiencing a crisis, you will not be turned away due to inability to pay.
For those with insurance coverage, we accept the following plans: Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Peachcare for Kids, Amerigroup, Wellcare, Cenpatico, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Health Care.
We have on-site financial counselors to help provide support services to clients and/or their families and agency program staff. Financial counselors assist in identifying all available financial resources for which clients may be eligible to fund the cost of required services and improve total quality of life.
Services Offered To: Adults Couples Teens Children
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
