Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, Inc. is the largest non-profit provider of social services in South Florida. As the lead agency for disaster relief for the Archdiocese of Miami, the organization is responsible for coordinating relief efforts in South Florida, and partnering with other Catholic organizations to provide assistance when disasters strike elsewhere.

Services Offered
Behavioral Health Services We provide services that empower youth, individuals, and families to overcome every day stressors, and develop skills needed to reach decisions and actions that lead to a better life.
Counseling Services The Counseling Program provides individual, marital, family, child and adolescent counseling. Services are available to all regardless of their religious or non-religious affiliation, gender, race, age or sexual orientation.
Strengthening Families Families program is a parenting program for parents with children between the ages of three (3) and sixteen (16). The program aims to strengthen the family bond between parents and children by improving communication, understanding, care, and sharing of family time.
Child Development Services The Child Development programs provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for your child with the goal of school readiness and comprehensive social services for the family. Low income families with children between the ages of three and five years of age who do not meet the deadline for kindergarten enrollment, are encouraged to apply.
Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services St. Luke's Center offers alcohol and drug treatment services for adults with or without a mental health diagnosis. The program provides assessments, outpatient services, and short term residential treatment for 30 days or more as needed.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
