Pawnee Mental Health Services is a private, not-for-profit organization licensed by the state of Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) as a community mental health center, one of 26 in the state of Kansas. Pawnee is also a licensed by the state of Kansas Department of Addiction and Prevention Services (AAPS) as a Substance Abuse treatment facility.
THERAPY SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Pawnee offers a wide range of Community Services for children and adults who meet specific state criteria for diagnosis with a Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). Individuals receive a variety of services in the home, at school and other places in the community as determined by their own treatment plan.
*CASE MANAGEMENT
Case managers assist in developing a treatment plan with goals and objectives to help the individual maintain his/her residence in the community, help the coordinate all aspects of the individual's care, help find resources, engage with the individual and family in various activities and interventions designed to help the individual reach his/her goals and monitor their progress.
PSYCHO-SOCIAL REHABILITATION
This service is provided on an individual and group basis and provides more support than traditional office based outpatient services with more flexibility than hospital based inpatient care. It is intended to manage the effects of mental/emotional impairments which previously required hospital services. The individual receives assistance with improving social skills, problem solving skills, leisure time training and health and wellness
SCHOOL-BASED SERVICES
Staff work together with the child's school to provide services at the school. These services are provided as agreed by family, school, and Pawnee.
SUBSTANCE TREATMENT SERVICES
Alcohol or drug addiction is a progressive disease that will continue to get worse without intervention and treatment. Pawnee's Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Services program treats alcohol and drug addiction as a primary disease in which a holistic treatment approach must be used. An individual's mental state, physical condition, social environment, emotional and spiritual life are all considered when treating addiction.
ALCOHOL AND DRUG EVALUATIONS
Alcohol and drug (A&D) evaluations are provided as ordered by the courts for substance related offenses such as Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Minor in Possession (MIP). Employers sometimes recommend A&D evaluations when they have concerns related to employees' work performance. Alcohol and Drug Evaluations are available to Spanish-speaking individuals with the assistance of a translator.
*OUTPATIENT SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT
Outpatient individual, family, and group therapy services are offered for adolescents and adults. Intensive Outpatient (IOP) is also offered in Manhattan. Level I IOP requires a minimum of 9 hours/week. It is an appropriate step up in intensity from Level I outpatient and step down from Level III inpatient. Pawnee offers individual therapy and our DUI/DWI group treatment program in Spanish with the assistance of a translator.
THERAPY SERVICES
In therapy sessions, we'll work to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behavior. We help you "re-frame" your thinking and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life's obstacles.
CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES
Individual, family, and group therapy are offered for children, adolescents, and their families, addressing issues such as problems in school, divorce, blended families, sexual abuse, child abuse, eating disorders, attention deficit disorder, anxiety and depressive disorders and other behavioral disorders.
ADULT SERVICES
Individual, family, marital, and group therapy are offered for adults addressing issues such as aging, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, marital problems, domestic violence, women's issues, anger management, pain management, crisis response and coping with tragedy.
Pawnee is an approved Medicaid and Medicare provider and bills other health insurance. Individuals who are not covered by insurance or whose insurance does not cover ARS Services are eligible for a reduced fee based on family size and income or may qualify for grant funding. A therapist can assist in determining eligibility.
