Northeastern Counseling Center was established in July, 1997, through an Interlocal agreement among the Daggett, Duchesne, and Uintah County Boards. The agency was formerly known as Unitah Basin Counseling and has been providing mental health and substance abuse services to the citizens of Northeastern Utah since the mid-eighties.
Services Offered
Individual Counseling - A collaborative process in which a unique, confidential helping relationship is developed between a counselor and a willing client. In this relationship, the professional counselor acts as a facilitator to help the client to understand more accurately him/herself and the world around him/her.
Group Counseling - A process where 4-10 individuals meet weekly with a professional counselor (facilitator) to discuss specific issues. Members are encouraged to give support to one another and to provide feedback to other members. Clients build trusting relationships where members feel safe to explore sensitive issues and resolve emotional difficulties.
Addictions Recovery - After an individual has recieved an evaluation at our office they may be refered for individual therapy, group therapy, or MAT with a medical provider. Some may even be refered to outside sources on a case by case basis.
PRIME For Life - A research-based program developed by Prevention Research Institute (PRI), a non-profit educational organization headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. It is the mandated statewide program in Georgia, Iowa, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Utah and delivered through community agencies in more than 45 states. For more than 15 years, PRIME For Life has been tested and developed. Its content is carefully selected to achieve specific attitudinal and behavior change. Information is presented objectively and persuasively using documented research findings rather than opinion, exaggerations or scare tactics. PRIME For Life is delivered to people convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or other drugs.
Fees and Payment
We do have a sliding fee scale that can lower the cost based on the Gross Monthly income of the household and how many people are living off of that income. Bring in proof of income to see where you might fall on the fee scale. We also work with insurance companies. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay.
The cost to attend the DUI classes is $250.00 for the screening tool and the classes.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
