CAFY Counseling Center has a diverse group of professional therapist skilled in working with trauma and able to help survivors of crime, adults, children and families with: * Immediate crisis counseling and support * Help to stabilize an emotional situation * Trauma-informed care to help with expressing feelings and develop coping skills; * Managing and overcoming problems with family, friends and significant others; and * Connecting to CAFY Case Managers for services on: - Victim services - How to work within and what to expect during judicial process - Applying for crime victims compensation benefits - Registering for safe address program and more.
We are currently a network provider for Medicaid. AETNA and CareFirst are soon to come. Upon arrival of your first session we will need a copy of your insurance card to place in your file. For individuals that have health insurance that does not completely cover our services, they will be expected to pay the appropriate copay depending on your health care provider. Payments are expected at the time of service.
Payments
For individuals who do not have access to health care, we do offer a sliding scale fee structure. Sliding scale fee structure is used to meet the needs of the uninsured or under-insured providing reduced costs on therapy sessions for those who qualify. Payments are expect at the time of service. We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
Pro bono
We do have a pro bono option, however we limit it to 10 slots at a time. In order to be considered for one of our pro bono slots you must meet one of the following and provide documentation as required: - 60+ years old - No insurance - Unemployed - Veteran

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
