Services Offered
Adult Behavioral Health Services (for patients aged 19-100) - Adult behavioral health services are often short-term and work in collaboration with you and your doctor at TVHC. Together, we work as a team to help you deal effectively with stress in order to improve your overall wellness. The stress you are feeling may be related to a physical health condition or to other life-related causes. Some common issues that patients see us for include depression, stress, and anxiety.
Throughout the process, we will help to monitor your medication side effects and help you develop useful skills for dealing with stress and depression so you can work toward a healthier, happier you. These services are provided by a licensed psychologist, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), or a registered, pre-licensed behavioral health therapist, and all are supervised by licensed therapists. Our team is highly experienced and dedicated to helping you uncover the lifestyle factors and underlying health conditions that may be contributing to your stress levels confidentially and without judgement.
Early Childhood and Parenting Teens (for young children up to age 8 and for teen parents up to age 21) and Early Childhood Integrated program - All children have their own developmental progression with a range in age for meeting their milestones. Children show diferences in their development of communication, language, motor skills, problem solving, and social emotional patterns. Your child's individual differences make him or her unique. Mental health in children is about how they feel, think and behave, and how well they manage transitions, routines, changes and social engagement with their family and peers. We can provide supportive interventions to help you with your concerns regarding your infant or young child's development or behavior.
For pregnant or parenting teens up to age 21, we offer support to learn parenting skills and positive bonding. Additionally, teenage pregnancy can bring challenges to the whole family. While love in the family can be abundant, the actual reality of caring for infants and young children is a major commitment. Interruption of school or other life goals can carry with it stressors for the young parents in learning how to manage their new responsibilities while also continuing with their life ambitions. We can help with the stress and adjustment to these changes and feelings such as anxiety, depression, anger, and low self-esteem.
Fees and Payment
At TVHC, we accept patients regardless of their ability to pay for services and we have many options available for those who do not have insurance and experience financial hardship. You may qualify for a number of different programs such as Medi-Cal or HealthPAC, which are government-funded programs that pay for health care. If you do not qualify for these programs, we offer an affordable pricing plan for services that we base on the average income of our members.
The specific payment amount that you are responsible for at the time of your visit depends on your insurance and/or the assistance programs for which you are eligible. Some patients may have a co-payment, a service charge, a sliding scale discount, or a share of the cost. For our self-pay patients, generally a base fee will be required during your appointment as well as payment for any required lab work and the rest can be made through a payment plan.
A billing statement may be sent to you if the required payments are not paid at the time of visit and we ask that your payment be made as soon as possible, so that we may continue to offer low-cost services to others who need them.
We offer payment plans where you can pay off a balance over multiple payments.

Qualifying for assistance from California's program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to California's program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
