We continue with the work we have provided for 12 decades: providing free, confidential, bilingual crisis services that help all people impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse restore their lives, and educating our communities to prevent future abuse and violence. It is the comprehensive services our partners are providing that are streamlining the road to healing, hope and self-sufficiency.The Center for Family Justice provides high-quality support and services to all victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking and child abuse in the six Fairfield County towns we serve: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.
Services Offered
Domestic violence - The staff at The Center for Family Justice provides crisis intervention, risk and danger assessments, individual safety plans, and individual and group counseling for those in present or past abusive relationships.
Sexual violence - Our specially trained advocates/counselors provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, emergency counseling, support groups and advocacy for victims of sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment, human trafficking or any other type sexual contact without consent.
Child abuse - The staff at The Center for Family Justice provides crisis intervention, conducts forensic interviews and offers emotional support and counseling to children who are victims of sexual and domestic violence, including cases where the children viewed abuse.
Advocacy - Guiding you to safety: The Center's Advocates are counselors trained and certified specifically in the area of domestic and sexual violence. They empower and counsel victims and survivors through emotional support, safety planning, case management services, and advocacy within medical, court, child welfare and other systems of care.
Crisis hotline - Our counselors/advocates are available 24/7 to help victims of domestic and sexual violence. We are also here to help family, friends, neighbors or co-workers answering questions and providing information.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
