Four County Counseling Center is designated by the state of Indiana as the Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) of four northern counties: Cass, Pulaski, Fulton, and Miami Counties. We also provide services in White County and Hamilton County. Although designated as the CMHC for four relatively rural Indiana counties, Four County Counseling Center services a great number of Hoosiers from other small, surrounding counties in an effort to increase accessibility of care to residents residing in under-served areas. We have been providing quality, community-based substance abuse and mental health services since the mid 1970's.

Services Offered
Outpatient Services - Individual, couples, and family therapy for all age ranges. Our therapists focus on using best practices in treatment protocols such as cognitive behavior therapy and pursuit of specialty certifications to demonstrate competency for consumers. We have a number of registered play therapists for children. Our team of therapists use a person-centered approach to therapy that considers not just what treatment would be most helpful for the individual, but what goals are important to the individual.
Adult Services - The Adult Case Management Program is a community and home-based program designed to assist the severely and persistently mentally-ill population to live independently in the community. Through linkage, coordination of care, advocacy, and teaching daily-living skills, we work to ensure that clients sustain community-based living. Adult Case Management Services are available in Cass, Miami, Fulton, and Pulaski Counties and are staffed with Case Managers who provide individualized care.
Child & Adolescent Services - Nearly 20% of Children and Adolescents suffer from a serious mental illness that impairs success in school, home, and in interpersonal relationships. Unfortunately, generally only 1 in 5 Children or Adolescents who have a mental health diagnosis receive any treatment while the onset of nearly 50% of all serious adult mental health disorders occur prior to 14 years of age. In order to address this growing concern, Four County offers a variety of services for children, adolescents, and their families in many different community environments. Although there are clinic services (i.e., outpatient counseling, groups, etc) offered for children & adolescents a large portion of services for this population are offered in the community referred to as Community-Based Services.
For many parents dealing with unmanageable or difficult behaviors in the home, Four County provides Home-Based Services. These services provide and build additional skills in the home that are not always offered in a clinic environment. Four County also provide an array of services in the school environment. School-based services incorporate home-based activities and are tailored to include the family, but more importantly, driven by highlighting the natural "strengths" of families. This strength-based care (Wraparound Services) is an effective supplemental service for families, which focuses on positive skills training and prevention.
Home-Based, Wraparound, School-Based and Prevention Services are offered in Cass, Miami, Pulaski, and Fulton Counties. Services are generally provided by bachelor-level Case Managers who have specialized training in evidence-based practices.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
