Services Offered

Behavioral Health / Counseling
OHU offers a comprehensive spectrum of services for individuals and families in need of counseling. Our programs are evidence-based and use data to inform our practices and models, with the goal of improving quality of life and relationships.

Outpatient Counseling
Counseling assists youth and families in times of need. Services are offered both in home and through the more traditional outpatient approach.

Clinical specialties include working with issues of acute stress reactions and reactions to trauma, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, school problems, behavioral problems, parenting, and family conflict. In addition, the clinical staff focuses on the systemic issues that are inherent in cases involving children and families.

DCFS Counseling Services
One Hope United DCFS Counseling Services provide a strengths-based approach to improve the symptoms for which the client was referred. Some of these issues may include coping, parenting and communication skills of DCFS-involved families. One Hope United staff members encourage families to identify and solve problems using the internal strengths of each person as well as available support systems within their communities.

DCFS Intact Counseling Services
One Hope United DCFS Intact Counseling Services is a family-based, in-home treatment program working with intact families. The program works with families and children who are at risk of being separated because of abuse and/or neglect. The program utilizes a therapeutic, family system approach, building on existing strengths to promote healthy family functioning.

Extensive Community Home Outreach (ECHO)
Extensive Community Home Outreach (ECHO) provides intensive home-based support to at-risk families to prevent children from entering more intensive placement services such as foster care or DOC. This program operates in Cook County.

The Healing Path: A Trauma Treatment Program for Youth
The Healing Path is a program for youth who are impacted by trauma. The program provides individual and family therapy for youth 4-18 years of age who have experienced trauma.

Intensive Placement Stabilization (IPS)
Intensive Placement Stabilization (IPS) provides intensive support to high-risk children in foster care to stabilize placements and prevent entry into higher levels of care.

Screening Assessment and Support Services (SASS)
Screening Assessment and Support Services (SASS) is an intensive mental health program designed to provide crisis stabilization, pre-admission screening, assessment, and treatment of any child who may be at risk of psychiatric hospitalization and who is eligible for public funding under any program funded by one of three collaborating departments (IDHS, IHFS, and IDCFS). Services are child-centered, family-focused, community-based, and culturally competent, and occurring in the least-restrictive setting, and include multi-systems.

Sexual Abuse Counseling
Children with Sexual Behavior Problems
Program Purpose
Sexual abuse often leaves families to face many questions and devastating emotions. To help families through this difficult time, One Hope United Sexual Abuse Counseling Services provide support and therapy to children and adolescents who have experienced or witnessed sexual abuse, as well as children/youth who have displayed sexually inappropriate behavior, aiming to divert further incidents of abuse by reducing the risks to child safety and well-being.

Adult Sex Offender Treatment Program
The Sex Offender Treatment Program is a specialized, outpatient program that offers a comprehensive psychosexual evaluation and on-going individual, family, and group therapy. The therapists function as part of the larger containment team. Because referrals come primarily from the court system, staff work closely with probation and parole staff and report to the court as needed.

Early Learning and Child Development
OHU's Early Learning and Child Development centers are dedicated to educating, nourishing, and empowering young children and families.

Family Support
OHU works with parents and children to keep their families safe, healthy and most importantly, together. Through our family preservation, counseling and other in-home and out-of-home programs, parents and guardians learn to identify and prevent potential patterns of abuse or neglect.

Youth Services
OHU provides outreach and counseling to troubled young people and their families through a variety of programs. We work to prevent youth from entering the juvenile justice system and help those who have already been through the system to successfully reintegrate into society and return to school. Our in-home services include risk and needs assessments, family meetings, parent education and crisis intervention. All programs draw upon a family's resources to help reduce conflict and instability while creating a healthy family dynamic.

Fees and Payment

One Hope United offers counseling services to individuals and families on a fee-for-service basis. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and TRICARE. Please call for eligibility verification.
