Professional Care Services of West Tennessee, Inc. is an agency composed of caring and involved professionals who are trained to respond to the mental health needs of their community through assessment, intervention, treatment, rehabilitation and support. Since the beginning, the primary purpose of the agency has been to provide services for the citizens of our communities.
Services Offered
Adult Services The Outpatient Treatment Team uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to provide inclusive care to a wide variety of individuals diagnosed with a mental illness. Clients are provided comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, illness education and management, crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, individual and family therapy and case management services. Clinicians may also link clients to community resources and natural support systems which provide additional assistance that aids in recovery, rehabilitation and stability.

Alcohol and Drug Assessment & Treatment Adult Mobile Crisis Services
The Mobile Crisis Team provides a 24 hour crisis response system for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The Mobile Crisis Team provides services for Tipton, Lauderdale and Fayette Counties. The goal is to provide assessments, triage, and access appropriate levels of care.
Respite Safety Net
Safety Net is a program created by the State of Tennessee and the Department of Mental Health/Developmental disabilities (TDMHDD) to provide mental health treatment for individuals who were disenrolled from TennCare and uninsured low-income population. The Safety Net program was designed primarily to provide medication evaluations and pharmacy assistance to these individuals. Mental Health Case Management Mental Health Case Management (MHCM) has emerged in the past two decades as a serviced strategy to promote community tenure for individuals with severe mental illness. MHCM services are targeted to consumers who meet medical necessity criteria. MHCM services include ongoing monitoring, assessment, coordination, and referring.
Individual MHCM: Individual MHCM refers to a recovery-oriented, less intensive Case Management service delivered by an individual Mental Health Case Manager. Symptoms are at least partially stabilized or reduced in order to allow rehabilitation efforts. Continuous Treatment Team (CTT): CTT is an intensive, comprehensive type of MHCM service. CTT services are provided by a coordinated, specially designated team of psychiatric, nursing, and case management staff that provide a range of clinical treatment, rehabilitation and support services. Services are delivered primarily in the home or other natural settings and emphasize a strong partnership with the family and other community support systems. Goals include the reduction of psychiatric hospitalization days, reduction of jail days and court involvement and reduction in crisis assistance. Services include individual, group and family counseling, medication monitoring and education.
Children and Adolescent Services Outpatient Treatment & Support Services The Outpatient Treatment team provides psychosocial assessments, case management, therapy and medication services to children ages 6 to 21 who have significant impairment in functioning related to a mental health diagnosis. The goal of the program is to improve the client's overall functioning and to help identify any barriers that compromise the client's emotional stability. Staff includes bachelor-level case managers, master level therapists, Certified Prevention Specialists, Registered Nurses, and board certified Psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners. Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention Services The program consists of assessments, individual and group counseling/therapy, as well as, recovery groups using evidenced based programs. Adults, provide individual and group therapy, A&D assessements, federal probation contract, Community Treatment Collabrative, urine drug screens, DUI school, can also provide educaitonal presentations for interested agencies, schools ect. on addiction and various drugs of abuse. Project BASIC (Haywood, Lauderdale, Fayette Counties): Project Better Attitudes and Skills in Children (BASIC) is a school based intervention and prevention service for grades K-3rd grade. The Child Devlopmental Specialist works in the school and provides actitives including mental health education, early identificaion and intervention,teacher consulation and acts as a liason between families, schools and mental health providers. CHOICES Youth Prevention Program (4th-6th Grade): Prevention education helps kids identify positive peers, develop their own self-esteem, deal with peer pressure, and learn conflict resolution skills. Hazeldon Co-Occurring Youth Prevention Program (Ages 13-17), (Tipton County): This prevention program is designed for students who may be experiencing "co-occuring" issues. Co-occurring means that there are two or more factors happening at the same time. PCS uses the Hazeldon Co-Occurring Disorder Series in this youth prevention program to address the topics of mental health problems and behavioral issues as impacted by drug experimentation or use. Project Alert, Juvenile Prevention Program: Project Alert is a prevention education support group for youth ages 13-17 located at the PCS Ripley location. It is about healthy living - physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. Individual and Group Therapy Therapy/ Counseling Services- PCS offers individual and group therapy for both children and adults. Therapy services are provided by a master's level clinician with specialized training and experience. Therapy services help to empower and provide hope to patients. It gives patients a health opportunity to express feelings and move toward recovery and resiliency.
Mental Health Assessment A mental health assessment will provide an overall picture of how well you feel emotionally and how well you are able to think, reason, and remember. It will document any family history or historical information that may be relevant to your current condition; and it can help diagnose mental health conditions, developmental problems, substance abuse issues, diseases of the nervous system, and other problems.
Alcohol and Drug Treatment Alcohol and Drug assessments and recovery programs are effectively offered at all six locations of Professional Care Services, with both individual and group therapy. The goal is to assist each individual in reaching his or her maximum potential relating to self, family, friends, career and recovery.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
