Services Offered
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TREATMENT Mental and emotional health affects your every day life, your relationships with friends and family and your job. If you need help, we offer comprehensive behavioral health programs for a variety of needs. From individual, group and family therapy sessions to crisis management and interventions, we have trusted medical professionals with the skills to help. We also offer rehabilitative services to include case management and skills development for qualifying children and adults and 24-Hour Mental Health Emergency Crisis Line (907)283-7511.
Children and Adolescent Services We provide comprehensive programs and services targeting severely emotionally disturbed (SED) children and youth. These include: summer programs, case management, home-based services, medication management and community-based services. Additionally, we offer individual and family therapy, school based intensive services, crisis intervention as well as psychiatric assessment and treatment.
Adult Services We offer a wide variety of behavioral health services specifically for adults experiencing emotional problems ranging from situational issues to chronic, severe mental illness (SMI). We provide crisis intervention, psychiatric assessment and treatment, case management, supportive residential housing, individual group and activity therapy as well as medication management. We also offer psychosocial rehabilitation services and pre-employment vocational skills development.
Emergency Services We offer emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year for all those experiencing a crisis or a mental health emergency. We have trusted medical professionals who can provide crisis intervention, stabilization and evaluation for referrals to crisis care facilities, shelters and hospitals. We help you remain in your community and try to prevent unnecessary hospitalization or removal from your home.
Fees and Payment
PCHS is designated as a "Federally Qualified Health Center," serves patients of all ages, accepts a variety of payment methods including private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and Denali Kid Care and provides access to uninsured and underinsured clients. Sliding Scale Discount Policy For those who qualify, discounts are applied to the unpaid balance or patient's "out-of-pocket expense."
Eligibility for discounts is based on household size and monthly gross income. Base rates are calculated using national poverty levels as adjusted for Alaska and extended up to 200%.
For those who qualify for a discount, proof of income is required.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
