Kings View Community Services Sanger (Substance Abuse)
We provide community behavioral health and social services to those with limited resources, in the spirit of Christ's example of love, compassion, and respect for all persons.Kings View Behavioral Health Systems was founded in Reedley in 1951 by the Mennonite Central Committee to address the need for treatment of mental health. In the 1960s and early 1970s, the scope of services was expanded to include drug and alcohol treatment through a number of community programs. In 1975, a day facility providing activity and work experience for developmentally disabled adults was established in Merced County. A drug and alcohol prevention and restoration program was created in Fresno in the early 1980s. In 2003 a Tele-Psychiatry program was launched to bring much needed psychiatric care to patients in more rural areas who may not have local access to such facilities or lack transportation.

Services Offered
Mental Health Services - The purpose of the outpatient portion of our program is to provide the most effective therapy possible to those individuals who are diagnosed with a mental disorder in order to return the consumer to his/her highest level of functioning. Kings View assists the consumers to regain their ability to manage their lives successfully through skill building. We strive to do this while being cognizant of the limited resources Kings View has. Our primary treatment modality is group treatment with individual therapy used to support group progress or when group is not clinically indicated. Group treatment also allows for mental health services to be provided weekly or even multiple times per week based on the number of groups with which a consumer is involved.
Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline - Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline is an immediate and consistent support for individuals in crisis or experiencing a suicidal crisis. The hotline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is confidential and free. CVSPH is funded by the voter-approved Mental Health Services Act (Prop. 63). It is one of several Initiatives implemented by the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA), an organization of California counties working to improve mental health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
Drugs and Alcohol Services - For many people drinking is nothing more than a way to socialize, celebrate or to relax. However alcohol has become such a big part of American life that we rarely stop to consider if a pattern is beginning to develop. Statistics currently suggest that 50.9% of adults over the age of 18 drink on a regular basis and 15% of the drinkers living in the United States are considered to be "problem drinkers." 70.6% of all 10th grade students have tried alcohol. The abuse of alcohol, prescription drugs and illegal drugs remain at epidemic proportions with 28 million adults and young people struggling every day with the horrific results of abuse and addiction.
TelePsychiatry - Behavioral Health Telehealth is a well-established method of delivering psychiatric services to clients in remote areas via video conferencing. Kings View's TelePsychiatry goal is to provide an audio-video connection of such high quality that the methodology becomes insignificant so that the focus can be on quality psychiatric care.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
