Intensive and General Outpatient Addiction Program - Upbeat and interesting groups are offered evenings, weekdays, and Saturdays. Informative sessions allow you to talk about and get help with your specific challenges. We also use multimedia to present useful topics such as the nationally-known PRIME for Life, dealing with families, Triggers and Coping skills, Thinking Errors (Cognitive Restructuring), Recovery Skills, and Relapse Prevention. We encourage Free family involvement. Separate and combined groups for men and women are held 1 to 3 hours each, so you can attend whichever groups best meet your schedule week by week. This flexibility really reduces your stress with work and personal commitments.
Alcohol & Drug Education - This workshop is taught in a single six-hour block on Saturday (with lots of breaks!) It follows the Prime (PRI) alcohol and drug education curriculum. The instructor addresses the low and high risks of alcohol and drug choices. Emphasis is placed on individual understanding and assists in changing awareness for both youth and adults. A 12 step program is also available as needed. As with all workshops, education can be taught during individual therapy sessions at your convenience.
Domestic Violence Prevention - This program provides the DV offender the opportunity to explore the dynamics of domestic violence with the primary goal to end it. The Deluth and other models of treatment are used to accomplish this goal. Other goals include improving mood, anger management, cognitive thinking error reconstruction, increasing communication skills, establishing effective parenting habits, developing healthy relationships, and pattern skills for violence-free living. Personal accountability is emphasized throughout the program. Therapy groups are held separately for men and women. Specialized monitoring is optional.
Anger Management - This class is also taught in one (1) six-hour block. It centers on educating the individual about the root or source of anger and assists in developing effective coping skills to better understand, manage and prevent anger and aggression. Various assessment tools are utilized in determining the source of anger and its triggers, then developing coping skills via cognitive approaches.

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
Qualifying for assistance from Utah's program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to Utah's program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
