CLINICAL & FAMILY SUPPORT
CHILD AND FAMILY COUNSELING CENTER
The Child and Family Counseling Center (CFCC) is a licensed outpatient mental health clinic. Services are provided at a primary state in Roslindale, an office in downtown Boston, in clients' homes, and in other community settings. Clinicians are also embedded in more than 55 area schools.
Children and families come to CFCC for treatment and prevention services that are designed to promote healthy physical and mental health development while deepening their connection to their community. Many of those receive services from CFCC have experienced toxic stresses.
CFCC offers services to children, adolescents, and their families including: assessment treatment consultation prevention services individual, group, and family therapy medical evaluation substance abuse counseling psychological and neuropsychological testing
OUT AND ABOUT COMMUNITY THERAPEUTIC RECREATION PROGRAM
The Home for Little Wanderers' Out and About program in Dorchester is a unique afterschool program serving youth with mental and behavioral health challenges. The program's strength-based approach enhances social development and confidence in youth to engage in group/recreational activities out in the community.
Our skilled staff works collaboratively with youth and families to: Strengthen social skills Foster creativity Develop independence Support healing from trauma Mitigate impact from mental illness
THERAPEUTIC AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The Home's Therapeutic After School Program (TASP) is a clinically-focused partial day program that serves youth aged 10 to 16. The program utilizes a strength-based, family-centered model to deliver specialized and supportive services. The Department of Mental Health, the Department of Children and Families, and other state and community agencies refer many youth to TASP as an alternative to out-of-home placement and would benefit from therapy and psychoeducational services.
SAFE AT HOME
We know that the best place for children to thrive and grow is in a stable home with their families. Often, youth and their families need additional supports to make home a safe place for a child that is struggling with their mental and behavioral health. Safe at Home is a team of therapists who work intensively with a child and his or her family in their home for a period of 3 weeks or 3 months.
The Safe at Home team provides intensive in-home services as an alternative to placing a child in a hospital, foster care, or a residential program. Safe at Home Services Offered:In-home therapy Therapeutic mentoring Creation of effective safety and behavioral plans Family Stabilization Services

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
