Motivated by Christ's love, we bring hope to life, especially for those most in need. We envision communities where people are treated with dignity and respect, their basic needs are met, and they are empowered to enhance the quality of their own lives. Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington provides help and creates hope for thousands of people each year regardless of religious, social, or economic backgrounds. Though serving the outreach efforts of the Diocese of Yakima, Catholic Charities is a separate 501(c)3 charitable organization, funded in part by the State of Washington, federal contracts, the United Way across Central Washington, fees for service, grants, and charitable contributions. Although rooted in a Catholic tradition that shapes its core mission of service to all, at times as many as 85% of the agency's staff is non-Catholic. Similarly, the vast majority of those being served are not Catholic. With nearly 32 service locations and almost 48,000 people served annually, the agency remains a testimony to its ongoing mission of "Bringing Hope to Life."

Services Offered
Child, Adult, Family Counseling - Whether it's individual counseling, couple counseling, family counseling, or group therapy, our mental health professionals can help individuals build upon their strengths to overcome the struggles they encounter in life. We accept Medicaid managed care, insurance, and a sliding fee for clients who do not have managed care or insurance coverage.
Psychiatry and Medication Management - That's why Catholic Charities' therapists, case managers, peers, and physicians work together to provide treatment and support to help alleviate symptoms, manage chronic symptoms, and enhance recovery. We do this by stabilizing medications, teaching social and living skills, and by offering help with employment and day-to-day activities.
Mental Health Crisis - If you're thinking about suicide, are worried about a friend or loved one, or would like emotional support, there is help. Depression, sudden life changes, loss, and difficult circumstances or imbalances in the brain can bring about suicidal thoughts. When we are overwhelmed by a difficult situation, we can lose hope. Without hope, we might mistakenly feel like suicide is the only solution. It isn't. In the middle of crisis, it can be difficult to see a way out.
Substance Use Disorder / Outpatient Chemical Dependency Treatment - Substance use disorders are treatable and complete remission is possible. Recovery, however, is often a long-term process that may involve multiple efforts. Because addiction affects so many facets of an individual's functioning - from the ability to tolerate frustration to establishing and a maintaining a productive role in society - our treatment focuses on many dimensions of life, including family roles and work skills as well as mental health.

If You Call, Please Let Us Know How it Went:
Were You Able to Make an Appointment?
One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
