Family Counseling - Family counseling is an effective, proactive approach to managing challenges in the home. Our expert clinicians have many years experience working with family units to overcome difficulties and get on the path to happiness and functioning between family members. Sometimes, a few sessions with a counselor can strengthen a healthy family at normal stages of development when stress is high and coping skills may be low. These sessions are intermittent, occurring throughout the life span of a family, and are offered on an as needed basis.
Couples Counseling - TCS understands that with a committed relationship comes work. Seeking couples or marriage counseling could be the right step for you and your partner if you are currently facing challenges in your relationship. Among other things, TCS clinicians can help couples prepare for and enrich their marriage by: * Helping couples to identify expectations and hopes for the marriage * Aiding both partners in understanding how their respective personality types and differences influence the relationship * Teaching couples to recognize how extended family issues affect the marriage * Providing skills to help couples cope with the unique circumstances and stresses of their marital situation Individual Counseling - Let's face it, life in the twentieth-first century is full of challenges. We are often faced with life events that are difficult to sort through, and sometimes we are confronted with problems that are too difficult to manage alone. Relationship problems, work-related issues, parenting challenges, depression, grief, aging parent concerns, and chronic health difficulties are just a few examples of common difficulties that can diminish our abilities to manage activities from one day to the next.
Trinity Counseling Service understands that people seek counseling for many reasons. Our general counseling services are provided by psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors. At the time of your first visit, you and your clinician will begin to work towards a treatment plan that is mutually agreed upon and meets your specific mental health goals and needs.
Child Counseling - TCS works extensively with children through individualized counseling, and Psycho-educational assessment . Children under the age of 18, make up 25% of our clients. Trinity Counseling Service takes pride in the number of highly trained counselors and psychologists here that are available to meet the mental health needs of children. In addition to our general counseling services for children, we offer Family Counseling which works with the entire family unit towards the betterment of the child's well being. One component of our child counseling services is the Child Intervention Initiative, a program that works in partnership with the Princeton and West Windsor Public School systems to identify, assess and treat the mental health needs faced by low income children and families in our community. Bereavement Counseling - How does someone cope with life after their spouse, parent, or sibling dies? At Trinity Counseling Service, we understand just how hard it can be to lose someone you love. Our highly trained, experienced clinicians tailor therapy to each individual or family, building a counseling plan that works for you in your unique situation. TCS clinicians can help guide those who are grieving through the stages of loss and grief, providing high quality support and care to individuals who may be experiencing the most tragic and difficult times of their lives.
Through TCS's bereavement counseling, adults, teens, and children are provided counseling and support, either individually or as a family, depending on the needs of each client. TCS's goal is to help people face emotionally intense issues and life transitions within a respectful and safe environment. The course of therapy is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Caregivers Counseling - For those who are dealing with a loved one suffering from a chronic, debilitating disease such as ALS, Alzheimer's disease or cancer, it can be an overwhelming experience. TCS's treatment can help you cope with a spouse, parent, relative or friend whose health or memory is gradually fading, leaving you wondering how to cope when you see their life slipping through your fingers. Caring for someone with such a disease also poses tremendous challenges emotionally, physically, and financially. Qualifying for assistance from New Jersey's program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to New Jersey's program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
