MK Place Designed to achieve permanent changes in an adolescent's life. To accomplish this we address major developmental, lifestyle, attitudinal and behavioral issues which can undermine the goals of treatment or inhibit the individual's ability to cope with major life or developmental tasks.
MK PLACE is suitable for adolescents with drug and alcohol issues requiring 24 hour monitoring in a structured, therapeutic community. A referral needs to be made from a Judge, probation officer, schools, family members, self, etc. to qualify for services. It is for young people 13-17 years of age.
We also have outpatient groups, individual counseling and family counseling.
Peer Monitoring Peer Monitoring is done in a group setting which can help the client build the strength necessary to override harmful peer pressure, and which harnesses the influence of the peer group in a positive manner.
Substance Abuse Treatment Treatment includes, but is not limited to drug and alcohol education, relapse prevention, and recovery support. Family Education Serves as a critical function in stabilizing the family system and engaging both the adolescent and family members in the treatment proces.
Family Therapy Our Family Therapy is a family systems approach that understands the importance of treating the individual as subsystems within the family system. Intervention is aimed to change the way family members relate to each other by examining the underlying causes of current interactions and encouraging new, healthier ones.
Family treatment also equips parents with the skills and resources necessary to address the inevitable difficulties that arise in raising teenagers. MK Place has a licensed family therapist.
Treatment Planning Treatment Planning identifies problems of the family and the client, including substance use, psychosocial, medical, sexual, and possible psychiatric disorders. Goals are attainable and help clients to recognize their involvement with substances and to acknowledge responsibility for problems resulting from substance use. The individual's strengths and resources are applied to treatment goals.
Individual Counseling Sessions Counselors meet one-on-one with clients to develop and address treatment plans, and help with any conflict resolution.
Group Therapy Clients attend groups to address issues developed by the counselor and the client during treatment planning.
Case Management Case Management is used for substance users with special treatment needs. Counselors will evaluate needs during intake and treatment planning and these needs will be addressed as part of the treatment process. Some include (but are not limited to): Health issues, dental issues, psychiatric issues, poverty issues, education, etc.
MK PLACE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT
According to The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment- Treatment of Adolescents with Substance use Disorders (TIP 32), the onset of substance use is occurring at younger ages, resulting in more adolescents entering treatment for substance use disorders with greater developmental deficits and much greater neurological deficits than have been observed in the past.
Adolescent users differ from adults in many ways. Because of this, the treatment process must address the nuances of each adolescent's experience, including cognitive, emotional, physical, social and moral development.
MK Place has a structured outpatient, intensive outpatient, community, and drug court program to meet the needs of clients by using the Matrix Model of Adolescent Treatment.
Fees and Payment
The cost for the nurturing program is $20 for the entire family and dinner is included.
Services are provided to both male and female clients regardless of race, color or sexual orientation. It is a state-wide service that is paid for by a state contract. Services are free for the young person and their family.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
