>> Mental Health Counseling Services - Axis believes in prevention and screening, that's why we screen for depression, anxiety, and substance abuse disorders throughout the organization.
We provide treatment for a variety of struggles, including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, relationship conflict, and many others through both individual and group treatment.
>> Addiction Counseling * Drug and Alcohol Recovery for Adults - The Adult Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program (Adult DARP) is a 16 week outpatient program. It is designed for those who have limited funds but still want treatment in an outpatient setting. Here's how it works: Primary/Early Recovery (16 weeks) In the primary phase, groups of 8 - 10 individuals meet three times a week for ninety minute sessions. The principle focus is on education, and includes: -Facts about drug and alcohol use -The causes of drug and alcohol abuse and its effects -The addiction and recovery process -Medical aspects of drug and alcohol use and co-occurring issues -Social and peer pressure -Information about the ongoing 12-step recovery program During this phase, we will also create an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs. This plan may include individual counseling if desired. Aftercare/Relapse Prevention After 16 weeks we also provide Aftercare/Relapse Prevention services for up to a full year to give you the ongoing support you need to live a substance- free lifestyle. This may include meeting in a small group and individual counseling sessions one to two times each week. We are here to help you.
* Drug and Alcohol Recovery for Teens - The Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program for Teens (Teen DARP) at Axis Community Health is the only outpatient drug and alcohol recovery program for adolescents in the Tri-Valley.
Teen DARP offers three different drug and alcohol recovery programs: intervention, outpatient and intensive outpatient. The required number of hours and weeks vary between programs and are based on the level of substance abuse. Sessions are held in a small group setting. After the initial phase, the program is customized to meet the needs of each teen.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
