Behavioral Health Services North, Inc. is a private, locally owned, not-for profit organization and a regional leader in the provision of health services, including behavioral health, in the northernmost area of New York State bordering Canada and Vermont. Located along the shores of Lake Champlain, BHSN has over 20 sites which comprise its 24 programs and administrative facility.

Adult Services
ADULT CLINIC The BHSN Outpatient Adult Clinic provides a full range of psychiatric services within a clinic setting to Clinton County adults who have experienced a serious mental illness.
PROS (PERSONALIZED RECOVERY ORIENTED SERVICES) The PROS Learning Center is a complete recovery program that brings rehabilitation, support and clinic services together into one plan that supports participants' ambitions and hopes. PROS services are broken down into four categories of services with the Individualized Recovery Plan keeping everyone working in the same direction - helping an individual obtain a desired life role.
CRISIS SERVICES BHSN Crisis Services provide 24-hour outreach support and intervention to seriously mentally ill adults who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
Child Services
Adventure-Based Counseling Program (ABC) ABC is a therapeutic group activities program which provides after-school, evening, weekend as well as summer services to at-risk youth and their families. A wide range of activities includes problem initiatives, ropes courses, rock climbing, backpacking, and community service. These activities are utilized as an experiential framework from which to teach children and families how to work well with others.
Child & Family Clinic The Child & Family Clinic is an outpatient mental health clinic that services severely emotionally disturbed children, youth and their families within the Clinton County catchment area. Clinic services are designed to complement the family's strengths and designed to complement other services provided to the child and family within the community.
Intensive Case Management Intensive Case Management (ICM) provides intensive, flexible outreach linkage, support and coordination of service to children with serious emotional disturbance. The recipients of ICM tend to be frequent users of emergency services, at high risk of psychiatric hospitalization and/or have not engaged in traditional mental health services. Primary Mental Health Project (PMHP) The Primary Mental Health Program, PMHP, was an early intervention program coordinating with local school districts to provide help to children who were identified as being at risk for school adjustment problems. Trained Child Associates worked directly with children grades pre-K through 3 on a weekly basis.
School Services
School-Based Mental Health Services SBMHS are mental health service provider programs licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health, which operates on-site within a school facility. A School-Based clinic operates in the school setting at minimum one day per week and can be determined based on the level of need of your student population.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
