BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Milestone practices a recovery-oriented philosophy of behavioral health treatment that is individualized and strength-based. Milestone's Behavioral Health programs adhere to the values of respect, empowerment, responsibility and hope.
Supporting someone through recovery starts with our Central Intake process. Appointments are scheduled as soon as possible at the convenience of the client.
MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID Milestone proudly offers courses in Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. Milestone also proudly offers Mental Health First Aid Training in American Sign Language, taught by deaf instructors.
Mental Health First Aid Training is the first step to improving mental health early intervention and reducing the stigma related to mental illness. One in four individuals suffer from a mental illness each year. Almost two-thirds of those individuals don't receive treatment.
CLINICAL & ADVOCACY Milestone provides a comprehensive care system to behavioral health clients.
INTAKE & ASSESSMENT Individuals seeking outpatient services are referred to Milestone's Intake Department. Our Intake clinicians work directly with the individual in completing an initial assessment of needs, determining insurance and fee arrangements and scheduling appointments.
SERVICE COORDINATION The Service Coordination Unit is responsible for helping clients access services in a timely manner, ensuring that services provided are appropriate and linking clients to available resources in the community. To ensure that clients are provided with access to quality, cost-efficient services, the Service Coordination Unit utilizes a multi-faceted approach that includes individual assessment, service planning, quality assurance, outreach and engagement and coordination of services.
INDIVIDUAL, GROUP AND FAMILY THERAPY
-Individual Psychotherapy is specifically designed for children, adolescents and adults, and focuses on helping them cope with problems, symptoms and issues in order to better manage their lives and improve functioning. -Group Therapy helps people living with mental illness improve their quality of life. The groups offer different focuses including women's issues, wellness strategies, coping skills, a teen group and a group for clients struggling with addiction recovery in addition to mental illness. -Family Therapy focuses on helping the family function in more positive and constructive ways by exploring patterns of communication and providing support and education.
CHILDREN'S SERVICES The Centers for Disease Control reports that up to 20% of U.S. children experience behavioral health challenges. Milestone is committed to supporting affected children in Western Pennsylvania.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH REHABILITATION SERVICES Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services is a psychotherapeutic service that "wraps care around" the child/adolescent in his/her environment. Services are provided in the home, school and community, by mental health professionals. The child, parents, school, case managers and any other necessary providers play an active role in the planning of services. Milestone provides these services to clients who live in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
SCHOOL-BASED SERVICES Milestone provides behavioral health support to students in the following school districts: Penn Hills, Riverview, Wilkinsburg and Riverview Children's Center. The services are unique to each district and based on the needs of the students.
Fees and Payment
Milestone Centers Inc., provides services to all persons without regard to age, gender, race, religious creed, disability, sexual orientation, ancestry or national origin.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania sets financial liability guidelines that determine a client's ability to pay for services.
There are two main factors that impact out-of-pocket expenses: -Health insurance coverage -Confirmation of financial information
Please bring your health insurance card to all appointments. Milestone will review the plan coverage and inform you of any possible out-of-pocket expenses. Milestone operates a sliding fee scale, meaning our clients pay according to their income.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
