Services Offered
Blackstone Valley Community Health Care offers behavioral health treatment to support the emotional wellbeing of each patient. Our team works closely with primary care providers to screen and assess the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of each patient. Counseling treatment is provided by highly trained Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors.
Individual Therapy 1:1 support for patients to help address mental health challenges to change or improve quality of life. Group Therapy allows patients to receive support from our behavioral health clinicians and other members of the group, helping them to feel less alone or isolated.
Coming soon: Recovery Group, co-led by a behavioral health clinician and peer recovery specialist. Diabetes Management Group, co-led by a behavioral health clinician and nurse. Post-Partum Depression Group led by a behavioral health clinician.
Referral Services if you are in need of more intensive, wrap-around services than we can provide, our team can help connect you to local community resources.
Peer Recovery Coaching offered by a certified recovery specialist to provide insight into the recovery process and help patients become and stay engaged in the recovery process to reduce the likelihood of relapse.
Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) an evidence-based practice used to identify, reduce, and prevent problematic use, abuse, and dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs.

Blackstone Valley Community Health Care accepts most major Rhode Island insurance plans including Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, and United Healthcare. We also accept RIte Care, RIte Share, Medicaid, & Medicare members.
BVCHC uses a sliding fee scale to offer medical services for qualified patients who do not have health insurance. Eligibility is based on household income and size.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
