Services Offered
Clinical & Therapeutic Services >Individual & Group Therapy - In-house and field-based individual and group therapy sessions are offered to children and their families to help stabilize or improve emotional and psychological functioning. Individual, group, and family therapeutic interventions are consistent with overall treatment planning.
> Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) - Individualized short-term services that address specific behaviors that put the child at risk of needing a higher level of care or out-of-home placement (group home placement, hospitalization, juvenile hall, removal from public schooling, etc.). A TBS Coach works directly with the youth in, addressing the cognitive barriers that they have in being successful in their current home and/or school setting.
> Medication Support - When a need is identified during treatment planning, a licensed psychiatrist conducts evaluation, determination, and review of medical necessity for all medication needs. Medication support services include the prescribing and monitoring of necessary psychiatric medication. These medications help alleviate symptoms of mental illness and allow the youth to better engage and have a voice in their own environment and treatment planning.
> Crisis Intervention - Crisis intervention includes stabilization of presenting emergencies, as well as preventative strategies and measures to deter hospitalization and disruption of placement.
> Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) - Seeking Safety - is a present-focused treatment for clients who are trauma-exposed and have varying degrees of substance abuse/dependence. Seeking Safety focuses on coping skills and psychoeducation and has 5 key principles; the number 1 overarching principle being safety (helping clients attain safety in their relationships, thinking, behavior, and emotions). - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or "C.B.T." - is an action-oriented form of psychosocial therapy that assumes that faulty thinking patterns cause faulty behavior and "negative" emotions. This faulty behavior is counter-productive and interferes with everyday living. The treatment focuses on changing an individual's thoughts (cognitive patterns) in order to change his or her behavior and emotional state. Currently, Bayfront offers individual 1 on 1 services. - Crisis Oriented Recovery Services (CORS)is a short-term intervention designed to provide immediate crisis intervention, identify case management needs, and assure linkages to ongoing services. CORS promotes the development of self-care coping strategies for the person in crisis. Services are designed to provide alternatives to emergency room care or acute inpatient hospitalization.

Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
Qualifying for assistance from California's program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to California's program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
