Services Offered
Family Counseling - A type of psychotherapy that helps families deal with problems in their relationship in a safe, impartial setting. Some or all family members can come together to work on issues that are hurting the family, so they can learn to better understand and relate with one another.
Marriage Counseling - Also known as couples counseling, it helps couples deal with problems in their relationship in a safe, impartial setting. Here, couples can work on issues caused by poor communication, financial stress, family stressors, infidelity, resentment, and other specific challenges in their relationship.
Individual Counseling - Life can be challenging. Work, family or personal struggles can be overwhelming. We do not always know where to turn when we face difficult circumstances or uncertainties. Catholic Charities is here to help. Through our five offices in Northeastern Wisconsin, Catholic Charities offers counseling for all individuals. Our master's level, licensed clinicians provide a wide array of services that can help individuals regain a stronger sense of balance, self-control, and positivity to overcome life's obstacles.
Domestic Violence - Catholic Charities is a state-certified Batterer's Treatment Provider. We offer a 24-week educational group for men who have been arrested for domestic violence. Groups are offered in English, Spanish, and Hmong. English and Spanish groups are available in Green Bay and an English group is available in Marinette. We are committed to assisting all individuals to overcome domestic violence.
Alcohol and Drugs - Catholic Charities offers individualized treatment by a licensed and certified substance abuse counselor and marriage and family therapist for those with substance abuse problems and their family members. Treatment is offered in our Appleton, Waupaca, and Wautoma locations.
Gambling - Catholic Charities offers individualized gambling treatment for gamblers and their families in our Appleton, Waupaca and Wautoma locations with our experienced, nationally-certified Gambling Counselor. Internet Addiction - If you suspect that you or someone close to you may have an internet addiction, we offer treatment in our Appleton, Waupaca and Wautoma locations. Counseling is also available for family members of people with various types of online addiction, whether or not these individuals seek help.
After Abortion - For women and men who are feeling loss, grief, or guilt because of an abortion, help is here. Project Rachel is a national organization which helps individuals face the emotional and spiritual problems that can surface after abortion. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay partners with Project Rachel to provide healing after abortion. Project Rachel can help the woman who has experienced an abortion, the father of the unborn baby, grandparents, relatives, friends, and medical personnel working in the abortion industry.
Fees and Payment
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay uses what is called a sliding-scale fee system for payment for counseling services. This mean that you only pay what you are able, based on your income.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
