Services Offered
Couple Counseling - Couples counseling brings a married, engaged, dating, or partnered couple together with a counselor who will provide you with tools to address and manage areas of conflict or dissatisfaction in your relationship.
Family Counseling - Family counseling involves bringing several members of a family together with a counselor who will teach them how to better resolve conflicts, process traumatic events, and a variety of other issues.
Individual Counseling - In individual counseling, a trained counselor will work collaboratively with you in a variety of evidence-based practices to empower the you to enjoy every day, improve your quality of life, and meet personal goals. It takes place in a safe, caring, confidential, and multiculturally-sensitive environment, and aims to determine a course of treatment consistent with your needs.
Group Counseling - A counselor will work with a group of individuals collaboratively in a safe and multiculturally-sensitive environment depending on the type of group and its needs. This can include Psychoeducation, a method in which a counselor teaches about a specific topic or issue, Group Counseling, a process designed to assist with managing the struggles of daily life, or Therapy Groups, a method which uses psychological interventions to assist with mental wellness issues and symptoms.
Fees and Payment
Fees are based on household income and the number of dependents in the home. Commercial insurance, KanCare (Medicaid), HCBS/SED Medicaid Waiver, Medicare, and other forms of third party payments are accepted. Payment is expected at the time of services, unless other arrangements have been made.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
