Outpatient Mental Health Services - Outpatient services may include assessments, evaluations, medication management, individual therapy, family therapy, education, and a combination of interactive groups to help treat issues such as: * Depression * Adjustment Issues * Attention Deficit Disorders * Conduct Disorders * Grief * Trauma and Anxiety Disorders
This service is available at our Allegheny West location 2300 W Allegheny Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19132.
Family Based Services (FBS) - is a wide-ranging trauma informed program designed to meet the therapeutic and concrete needs of families and children. FBS provides individual and family therapy, crisis prevention and intervention, and assistance for families who are stressed by not having enough resources to meet their basic needs. By working together to address the child's emotional needs and the broader needs of the family, the need for more intensive mental health services or out of home placement can be avoided. This service is provided by a highly qualified team which includes both a trained therapist and a family support worker. Bilingual services are available for Spanish speaking children and families.
Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services (BHRS) - provided in Philadelphia and Montgomery County, consist of medically necessary mental health services delivered to children in their home and community. Services can include 1:1 counseling, behavior consultation with teachers, parents and community resources, and/or 1:1 behavioral support. These voluntary services seek to assist the child and family in remaining in the home and community and stay out of higher levels of care including inpatient hospital or residential settings.
School Therapeutic Services (STS) - make up a time limited school based therapeutic program. These services are prescribed for children and adolescents by a psychiatrist or psychologist after completing a face-to-face evaluation where it is determined that the child's diagnosis impacts his or her performance in school. STS services are available in five Philadelphia schools (Feltonville Arts & Sciences, Feltonville Intermediate, Cramp, Tilden).

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
