The Children's Advocacy Center of Jackson County is a grass-roots, community organization which provides a home-like environment where child victims can disclose abuse to law enforcement and child protective workers in privacy and safety and can receive services in one child-friendly location.
By redesigning the "system" with the special needs of children in mind, the Center reduces the trauma of abuse, and provides coordinated support services for child abuse victims to begin the healing process. The three Counties we serve: Jackson, Josephine, & Douglas (Southern Oregon Regional Center)

Services Offered
THERAPY / MENTORING The Children's Advocacy Center of Jackson County provided therapy services to children who have experienced abuse. Families receive a comprehensive trauma-informed assessment which will evaluate the child's level of mental health need. Counseling services may be offered or the therapist might help facilitate a referral to another agency to best support the families' treatment needs.
It is our goal to help families process their feelings surrounding the abuse. Counseling is held in a safe, caring environment that is constructed to reduce anxiety. We care about you, your child or children and your family as a whole. If you are undecided about counseling, our door is always open to explain options that are available to you.
We have three licensed therapists that are trained in evidenced-based practices to help your family heal. Therapeutic modalities used at our center include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy informed treatment, Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Adventure Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy techniques using art, movement, play and various specialized therapeutic groups throughout the year for children and teens.

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
