Geisinger offers a broad range of services to help people whose lives have been touched by psychiatric conditions, emotional disorders and behavioral challenges. Our expertise lies in determining your unique needs. We then line up the right treatments and services to help you get back on track.
Our psychiatry and behavioral health services
We want your quality of life to remain high, so we offer special services and programs if you are receiving treatments for complex conditions. You can receive exceptional care, close to home, with these Services Offered:A medication-assisted treatment program that helps people with addiction take the first steps toward recovery with medications to reduce cravings. Geisinger at Home, which lets people who are seriously ill receive care in their home instead of a nursing home. Memory and cognition programs, which use a team approach providing ongoing care for conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. In a dedicated clinic people can be seen by many specialists including speech therapists, psychologists and social workers. We offer special services such as a driving simulator to test reaction times. Counseling for parents of children with behavioral issues. Neuropsychology evaluations to help people with brain and nervous system challenges, including dementia, receive the treatments and support they need.

We accept personal checks and most major credit cards (American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard). If you are unable to pay your balance at one time, Geisinger will set up a payment plan for you.

If you have no health insurance or limited insurance benefits and/or limited financial resources, you may be eligible for assistance. Uninsured patients are required to apply for Pennsylvania Medical Assistance (also referred to as Medicaid or MA) or enroll in the Federal or State Health Insurance Marketplace.
If you do not qualify for financial assistance but believe you have special circumstances, you can request that your case be reviewed by a Geisinger financial counselor.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
