Situated just off the beaten path, yet close enough to the conveniences of the city, Prairie View's accredited campus in Newton, Kansas, boasts of nearly 80 acres of natural Kansas plain. A number of evidence-based mental health services are provided, including hospitalization, outpatient services, a community support program, an adventure course, an accredited special purpose school and more.
Prairie View's additional outpatient locations in Hillsboro, McPherson and Wichita provide services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for a complete range of behavioral and mental health issues including, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, dementia, sexuality related issues, grief, cognitive disorders, alcohol and substance abuse issues, family and marriage issues and more.

Addiction Treatment Services * Inpatient Services - The Addictions Treatment Center (ATC) at Prairie View offers support, hope and recovery when you are ready to deal with substance abuse and the underlying co-occurring disorders (anxiety, depression or other mood disorders) that can lead to or result from an addiction.
Our treatment philosophy addresses mind, body and spirit. Caring for all of these is essential to lifelong recovery from addiction. Because we treat addictions and co-occurring disorders, we offer a more comprehensive care plan than other facilities that treat only substance abuse. * Outpatient Services - Outpatient Substance Use Treatment for Adults and Youth: > Substance Use Evaluations (SAE) to determine if a substance use disorder exists, and to assist in determining what level of treatment best meets your needs > Individual and family therapy for substance use and support for maintaining sobriety > Costs for services vary but may be eligible for coverage under major medical insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, sliding fee scale, or charitable patient assistance funds. Self-pay and financing options are also available. * Substance Use IOP - Prairie View can help you overcome your addiction, regardless of where you are in the journey. Whether you have already completed inpatient or a residential level of addiction treatment or relapsed while undergoing outpatient treatment, there is another option available. Fees and Payment
Residents of Harvey, McPherson, and Marion counties may qualify for reduced fees based on the current established sliding scale fee; available upon request. Qualification for sliding scale fee is based on the number of dependents and total income reported on the income tax return on which the client is included. Clients unable to pay the sliding scale fee can request a fee reduction or complete fee waiver. Current circumstances and ability to pay the established fee will be considered when making any fee adjustment or waiver.
No resident of Harvey, McPherson or Marion counties is denied Community Mental Health Services mandated medically necessary and appropriate because of inability or refusal to pay.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
