Mental health services - Your mental and emotional well-being is as important as your physical health. In fact, since both your mind and body impact the quality of your life, the two are connected and should be considered parts of a larger picture. Taking care of both can help you lead a healthier life.
Counseling - We provide quality, recovery oriented, mental health and substance abuse services for people of all ages. Our counselors and psychologists help build resilience, facilitate recovery and grow - so you can live a fuller, more productive life. We focus on developing coping skills, improved communication in relationships, support for transitions such as job loss, divorce and death of a family member, basic problem solving, effective listening and more. Members of our team work with anyone in need, regardless of religious affiliation, serving people of all ages with a variety of traditional and non-traditional treatment approaches.

Addiction -We provide addiction treatment services specifically designed to help people experience lasting recovery and a newly improved life. Our addiction treatment services provide support along a continuum of care, depending on what clients need to be successful on their recovery journey.
Sexual Assault Services - You do not have to be alone after a sexual assault; we are here for you. Our sexual assault services (SAS) staff and volunteers will respond to your needs with care and expertise. We provide crisis intervention and support for you and your family, and we educate community members who are concerned about sexual assault. Residential Crisis Program - We offer residential and crisis services, available through a county referral, to assist individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis and who are in need of stability and the skills to live independently in the community.
School-Based Mental Health Services - Many students across Wisconsin struggle with mental health issues, including self-harm, grief after losing a parent, self-esteem issues, stress, depression and anxiety. Our school-based mental health programs work to address these concerns and struggles by bringing licensed mental health professionals to students during the school day, overcoming common challenges including health insurance coverage and cost.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
