Bridgewell provides comprehensive treatment for children and adults challenged with psychiatric and sometimes developmental disabilities. Our services include outpatient treatment, medication management, counseling, education, evaluation and other support aimed at empowering them to live safe, self-directed and productive lives.
The Sovner Center The Sovner Center is an outpatient mental health clinic located in Danvers that specializes in the provision of psychiatric assessment, medication management and psychotherapy services to adults with a dual diagnosis of developmental and psychiatric disability. The Sovner Center seeks to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through consultation, collaboration and coordination of care. Our experienced team of clinical nurse specialists, psychiatrist, and psychotherapists provides services in a manner that ensures that individuals and their families, other care providers and advocates are active collaborators in the process of growth and change. START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Respite and Treatment) Clinical Support Services START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Respite and Treatment) Clinical Support Services provides short-term community-based crisis prevention, intervention and behavior support planning for individuals who are dually diagnosed with developmental and psychiatric disabilities. Bridgewell Counseling Services With three clinics located in Chelmsford, Lowell and Lynn, Bridgewell Counseling Services (BCS) provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment in a setting that respects individual strengths and differences. Additionally, BCS specializes in providing a continuity of care to individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities. BCS in Chelmsford also provides services to children and families.
We consider it a part of our mission to engage individuals who have struggled with continued treatment due to the severity of their illness. Our standard outpatient services include medication assessment and management, diagnosis and treatment, and individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapies.
Lowell Adult Day Treatment (LADT) Lowell Adult Day Treatment (LADT) provides five-day per week intensive treatment for adults with persistent mental illness. Using a group therapy model, LADT supports individuals by providing crisis assessment and intervention, case management support with symptom management, skills training, socialization, and ultimately improved quality of life. Employee Assistance Program Employees are an employer's greatest asset and the key to its success. We are committed to helping employers maintain a work environment that encourages employees to maximize their career potential. This service is designed to assist company personnel and their families in finding solutions to personal or work-related problems.

The Sovner Center accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most third-party insurance providers.
START Clinical Support Services is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and is funded by and accessed through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). LADT accepts Medicaid and Medicare insurance plans.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
