COUNSELLING SERVICES
Adult Therapy Our culture can sometimes tell us to be strong to get through difficult times. Emotional and relational pain can manifest because of stressful circumstances in your current life or because of experiences in your past. Personal strength and strong faith are great assets but there are times where seeking professional assistance is the wisest course of action. Professional counseling that considers your mind, body, and spirit can assist you in finding real freedom from issues that you may struggle with instead of making things better for a moment. Lasting life changes can result from counseling. Depending on your situation, the counseling process can move quickly or it may take awhile. While it is never too late to come in, it can be especially rewarding to come to counseling as early as possible. Your counselor is your partner and together you can achieve the level of personal growth that may help to improve your quality of life.
Couples and Relationships In marital counseling couples can learn new tools for improved communication and managing their conflict and are likely to have a better understanding of the role that they play in their ongoing struggles. With the assistance of a professional, people often are able to hear and understand each other in ways that they fail to when they are alone in their struggles. Even in the most difficult of circumstances, couples can find healing and enjoy a healthy, rewarding relationship with each other.
Adolescent Therapy The adolescent years are often marked as a time of trial and tribulation. Adolescence is meant to be a time for the adolescent to discover and grow into the person that they want to become and understand the world in which they live. However, adolescents often struggle through this process and need a professional to help them walk from childhood to young adulthood. There can be a variety of reasons an adolescent, or his parents, may feel counseling is appropriate for him. Whatever the reason is, counseling is a safe place for your adolescent to explore his thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about himself, family, and the world in which he lives.
Substance Abuse and Addiction
As we walk through life we are often faced with temptations that we believe we can handle. Often, these temptations may turn into more serious problems and addictions than intended. Whenever you first began using a substance, there is a strong likelihood that you did not plan for it to be something you abused or become an addiction. Once in the cycle of substance abuse or addiction, it can be an extremely difficult task to break on your own. Professional help is available to support and encourage you through the process of breaking the cycle.

One quick last question. Who was seeking counseling today?
Do you know the reason they are not accepting clients?
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
