Community Care Services (CCS) is a nonprofit agency that serves people with mental health and substance use disorders. We operate a variety of programs for children and adults that focus on the individual's unique needs. We start with the person first - developing innovative services that provide the care, resources, and connections to help each person in the best way possible. Recovery is possible. Recovery is defined as the process through which people find ways of living meaningful lives without ongoing symptoms of their conditions. We believe all people have the inherent right to find their individual path to what is meaningful, and we are here to support that process.
Services Offered
Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling - Outpatient counseling services are available for adults, teens and children. We offer the option of individual, family, or group counseling. Outpatient counseling enhances an individual's ability to cope with life stress, manage their illness and make productive life choices. Together with a therapist a patient will design a treatment plan and establish recovery and wellness goals. Services include psychiatric evaluations; medication review and monitoring; post hospital and aftercare treatment; and evidence based therapy services. Your therapist will recommend frequency and duration of counseling session.
Dual Diagnosis Outpatient Services - Dual diagnosis outpatient counseling services are available to adults and teens that have both a mental health and substance use disorder diagnosis. We offer the option of individual, family, or group counseling. Outpatient counseling enhances an individual's ability to cope with life stress, manage their illness and make productive life choices. A treatment plan will be designed to reach recovery and wellness goals. Services include psychiatric evaluations; nursing services; medication review and monitoring; and post hospital and aftercare treatment.
Office-Based Opioid Treatment - Office-Based Opioid Treatment is an effective recovery option when an abstinence-only approach may not be successful. Office-Based Opioid Treatment is the use of FDA approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders and prevent opioid overdose.
Women's Intensive Outpatient Program - The Women's Intensive Outpatient Program is designed for women in early recovery from substance abuse. Available to women 18 years or older, this program helps develop the skills needed to maintain a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Special focus is given to building self-esteem; developing interpersonal relationships; recovering from physical, psychological and sexual abuse; and strengthening parenting and life skills.
School Based Program - Half of all mental illness begins by age 14 and on average it takes eight to 10 years, from the onset of symptoms to a diagnosis. These are critical developmental years. When children living with mental illness have access to services they are more likely to develop educational and social experiences they need to succeed in life.
Supported Education Program - For many people living with a mental illness the thought of going back to school is overwhelming. Our Supported Education Program is the perfect first step for those who have an interest in pursuing a college degree or attending a vocational school. The classes, which take place on a college campus, prepare participants for the rigors of college. In addition to strengthening academic skills participants also explore career paths and receive guidance submitting financial aid and college applications. All class materials are included and there is never a cost to participants.
Fees and Payment
If you have Medicaid or Healthy Michigan Plan typically there is no out of pocket cost to you. Each insurance policy has its own individual co-pay and deductible requirements. We are also a nonprofit agency.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
