Tri-County Human Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization, providing substance abuse, mental health, and co-occurring treatment to residents of Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties. Tri-County Human Services, Inc., which is CARF accredited, is a United Way of Central Florida member agency and participates in the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland.

OUTPATIENT SERVICES
ASSESSMENT AND REFERRAL Referrals are accepted for adult/adolescent and Behavioral/Medical Health Services on both a voluntary and involuntary basis. Services are provided without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability/illness, or socio-economic status.
ADULT OUTPATIENT SERVICES Tri-County Human Services, Inc. provides adult outpatient Substance Abuse (SA) and co-occurring services at locations in Lakeland, Winter Haven, Avon Park and Wauchula and Mental Health Services in Avon Park. The outpatient clinics provide a wide range of behavioral health services including: -Assessment, -Psychiatric services (Lakeland & Avon Park), -Mental Health Counseling (Avon Park) -Case management, -Targeted Case Management (Avon Park), -Individual counseling, -Group counseling, -Couples counseling, -Education groups, -Family counseling, -Aftercare services, -Drug screens, and -Referral for additional and aftercare services as clinically indicated.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment is available at Lakeland and Winter Haven Baycare facilities. Length of stays in outpatient services range from three to nine months. Outpatient services offer individuals the opportunity and means to overcome their substance abuse problems without regard for the client's ability to pay for services.
ADOLESCENT OUTPATIENT SERVICES Tri-County Human Services, Inc. provides adolescent (children ages 12 - 17) outpatient Substance Abuse and Co-occurring services at locations in Lakeland, Winter Haven, Avon Park and Wauchula and Mental Health (children age 4 - 17) services at Avon Park. The outpatient clinics provide a wide range of behavioral health services including assessment, medical services (Lakeland & Avon Park), case management, Targeted case management (Avon Park), individual counseling, group counseling, couples counseling, education groups, family counseling, aftercare services, drug screening by urinalysis, and referral for adjunctive and aftercare services as clinically indicated. Length of stays in outpatient services range from three to nine months. Individualized treatment plans are developed with each adolescent with input from the child's parent/guardian. Parental participation in all aspects of treatment is encouraged.
PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES The goal of Tri-County Human Services, Inc. Psychiatric Services is to provide excellent outpatient centered psychiatric care in a timely and efficient fashion.
INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL/MEDICAL HEALTH Tri-County Human Services, Inc. is currently providing services at two (2) locations with Central Florida Health Care (CFHC) a Primary Care Provider, which include locations in Winter Haven and Lakeland. Services generally provided at the site of a Qualified Primary Care Provider may include: -Outreach, -Crisis support services, -Assessments, -Case management, -Individual therapy, -Psychiatric evaluation -Medication monitoring, and -Drug screens.
Fees and Payment
Tri-County accepts most health insurance plans, including Medicaid HMO's. Tri-County will contact your insurance company and secure a prior authorization for services, if needed. Tri-County cannot accept Medicare insurance plans, at this time.
If you have no insurance Tri-County applies a sliding fee schedule, based on household income and number of family members to arrive at the fee. Tri- County has limited funds available to help in assisting you in getting treatment.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
