Our therapists are experienced in guiding couples through many stages of relationships: those who are preparing for marriage or remarriage; those who are working to maintain their relationship amid the stress of parenting and careers; couples who are considering separation or divorce; couples in later life who are coping with issues of retirement and aging.

We work collaboratively with couples, helping them identify and clarify their issues and set realistic goals, supporting each individual as they work toward solutions and a more satisfying relationship. Family Counseling Family Counseling is a specialty at Samaritan Center.
Many of our staff are trained as family therapists and child specialists, experienced in working with the concerns that bring families to counseling, including communication, school problems, eating issues, drug and alcohol involvement, and the symptoms of ADHD, depression and anxiety.
We help families cope with the problems that arise in everyday life, providing practical tools and emotional support as they work through difficult times.
Group Therapy Groups Can Create a Space for Growth Group therapy is an effective and affordable resource for those in the midst of stressful situations. A small group can provide a safe place for both adults and children to work through feelings of loss, anger and grief and develop skills that will help them move through painful transitions. People who are experiencing depression and anxiety can learn ways to manage these symptoms and develop a stronger sense of self.
Psychological Assessment for Children and Adolescents A typical case includes: a clinical interview; intelligence tests; performance tests; projective tests; personality tests; and behavioral evaluations. At Samaritan Center we provide a comprehensive psychological report utilizing the interpretation of the assessment results in order to offer diagnostic clarity and treatment recommendations. Finally, the testing results and comprehensive report are presented and discussed in a follow-up feedback session.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
