Since 1883, Family & Children's Place has been building stronger families in Louisville and Southern Indiana through its child abuse prevention, intervention and treatment programs.

Specially designed treatment programs offer abused and neglected children loving, therapeutic care while their parents receive intensive training and counseling. Education and prevention programs engage families early on to help parents enhance their parenting skills, as well as their children's physical, social and intellectual development.

Services Offered

Child & Family Services (CFS) offers individual, family, group and school-based counseling, using evidence-based, proven interventions for children and family members who have experienced trauma.

Specialized treatment includes using trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, play therapy and solution focused interventions. Family Treatment is an integral focus of the service believing that for children/youth to heal, the family/caregivers should be included in the family rebuilding and recovery process when safe to do so.

Home-based counseling and services, school counseling and office-based counseling including Medicaid eligible clients is available through the Indiana office.

Fees and Payment

Dependent on client eligibility, CFS offers some services at no charge, such as for survivors impacted by crime, for those under government/state contracts and those that may fall under certain funding criteria. Kentucky Medicaid eligibility is determined during Intake.
