The Dream Center works to strengthen and empower families, with a particular focus on fathers and youth, through support, advocacy, lifelong education, and community connections.
Families United Families United provides mentoring, direct assistance, social and emotional support to all families enrolled in our programs, offering families an opportunity to successfully make Johnson County their home by connecting them with friends, neighbors, and the wider community. It is open to all families who desire more support in finding success.
FATHERHOOD ACADEMY
Life Circle Groups Life Circles provides fathers with individual and group counseling to address parenting issues such as adjusting to fatherhood, handling environmental stress (family, work,neighborhood), anger management, coping with grief and loss, and regulating emotion.
The overall goals for our Life Circles program is to: 1) help fathers develop interpersonal skills for responsible fathering 2) build and maintain strong family ties 3) connect them with workforce help in their professional development 4) help fathers become more financially and emotionally involved parents and 5) help fathers build positive relationships with the mother of their children.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Works to find creative ways to respond to complex issues affecting young men and women and assist them in overcoming obstacles hindering their educational experiences. Our academy provides youth with individual, group, and family counseling to address issues at school and at home, teaches students how to develop self-respect, respect for others, and personal accountability.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
