General Counseling - Unexpected stresses can cause debilitating anxiety and infringe on normal life functioning. Our licensed therapists recognize the impact of these conditions and develop a personalized treatment plan to empower our clients in establishing and maintaining healthy life patterns and coping skills. Conflicts can arise from: * A traumatic event * Devastating loss of a relationship * Mental health issues * Financial struggles
Family Preservation - All couples and families experience conflict. Avoiding issues causes deep dissatisfaction, risk looking elsewhere to meet needs, or create bitter resentment. This can cause repeated wounds that will either make the relationship grow cold or escalate to very unproductive levels of conflict such as domestic violence. Victim Assistance - A crime may last only a few moments, but its impact may be felt for a lifetime Victims of crime feel hopelessness, fear, and loss of control. Managing these symptoms and rebuilding your life can be difficult and costly. We offer counseling services to assist in recovering from profound traumatic experience. The Victim Assistance Program provides 8 FREE individual therapy sessions and up to 18 hours of FREE workshops and/or group therapy sessions to any crime victim, family member, or eye witness who is experiencing trauma reactions to a crime. If you and/or a family member has suffered any crime and are ready to deal with the impact on your lives, you are eligible for services under the Victim Assistance Program.
Fees and Payment
IA accepts all major forms of insurance, in which case a client only pays their co-pay. If a client does not have insurance and makes too much money to qualify for sliding scale fees, the fee for a fully licensed therapist is $125, for a temporary licensed therapist is $100 and for interns is $65 per session.
We offer sliding scale fees to those who have no insurance resources or wish to protect their confidentiality by not using their insurance.
IA's Victim Assistance Program will also provide up to 6 months of free services including 8 free individual sessions.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
