Counseling Services
Catholic Charities West Michigan works to help individuals facing the challenges of everyday life offering mental health and counseling in Grand Rapids, Muskegon and several other West Michigan locations. Services are available for children, adults, couples, and families.
Our Behavioral Health services include, but are not limited to:

* Family, Individual, Children's Counseling - There are times when each of us needs someone to help us sort out our thoughts and feelings. When families, individuals and children from West Michigan are looking for help to cope with problems such as anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and family relationships they can find solace in Catholic Charities West Michigan. Our services include, but are not limited to: - Treatment of Depression, Anxiety, and many other mental health disorders - Marriage counseling - Parenting struggles
Several of our therapists also specialize in working with children as they deal with difficult issues by engaging them, in a variety of ways, to help them communicate their feelings. They work with children struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression and behavioral issues.

When individuals and families in West Michigan are struggling with addiction or dependence on alcohol or drugs help is available through Catholic Charities West Michigan. Confidential services are client-centered and strength-based with many funding options.
Substance abuse treatment is offered with a variety of treatment options. These include:
- Prevention - Early Intervention - Individual Counseling - After Care support - Parent support groups
All counselors are certified by the State of Michigan and trained to assist the client and family in all of the recovery steps.
Treatment available for adolescents in Ottawa County.
Adult treatment available in Allegan, Ionia, Kent, Mecosta, Muskegon, and Ottawa Counties.

Fees and Payment
Behavioral Health services are provided by highly qualified, trained and licensed professionals. CCWM participates with many insurances, including Medicaids. In some locations, additional funding is available to help cover costs for the uninsured utilizing a sliding fee scale. Our staff is committed to providing caring and comprehensive service.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
