Dade Family Counseling, Inc. is a community based non-profit agency that provides comprehensive outpatient counseling services. We are proud to have been serving the public since 1989, and pride ourselves in thoroughly assessing our clients and tailoring our services to suit their needs. We allow the client to effectively address emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues without unnecessary disruptions to the client's occupational and family life. Even though DFC is a private non-profit organization, we do not receive any State grants or county funding. We manage our budget based on what our clients pay following a sliding fee scale, based on their income.

Services Offered

Individual, Couples and Family Counseling
Our accredited staff provides clients with mental evaluations and therapy for those who need to address individual, couples, or family issues in a professional, safe, and confidential environment.

ubstance Abuse
DFC specializes in providing outpatient treatment programs for clients with substance abuse issues. We pride ourselves in conducting a thorough assessment and tailoring our services to meet the client's needs. Our assessments include a clinical interview, which consists of a Bio-psychosocial assessment designed to individualize client's treatment.
Clients are regularly tested for alcohol and randomly tested for illegal drugs. Clients are also required to attend alcoholic anonymous (AA) or narcotics anonymous (NA). The length of treatment is individually determined based on client's needs and the severity of the problem. Special arrangements can be made for drug court clients or individuals that need more intensive therapy.

Domestic Violence
Certified Batterer's Intervention Program through the Department of Children and Families and the Criminal Justice System. We provide psycho- educational groups to individuals who are abusive to partners in an intimate relationship. We provide services in English and Spanish. The clients are required to attend an assessment/enrollment, one orientation and twenty-four group sessions. Utilizing the Duluth Model of Power and Control, this program addresses the belief system behind the batterer's behavior and teaches behaviors conductive to equality in relationships. The program assists the client in developing non-violent or non-abusive techniques to resolve conflicts.

Mental Health
This intervention consists of a clinical interview and a mental status examination conducted by Licensed Psychotherapists. Its primary goal is to identify if there is a need for a more intensive modality, like a Psychiatric Evaluation and Pharmacotherapy. Most of the time clients are experiencing daily, living problems that could be addressed through only Psychotherapy. Therapy is usually short-term, in which client a will be taught coping strategies and therefore they could avoid more expensive and unnecessary interventions such as occasional Psychiatric medications. However, if the condition of the client would require pharmacotherapy, referrals to Licensed Psychiatrists or C.M.H.C. will be provided to compliment the psychotherapy.

Anger Management
The anger management program offers psycho- educational groups that are designed for men and women who are involved in a violent incident with people in which they are not engaged in an intimate relationship.

Fees and Payment

We can be flexible, encourage, and expect the client to take some financial responsibility for their recovery. The fees are assigned through a sliding fee scale after the initial admission.
