The mission of Youth Homes is "to help every youth feel safe, have a sense of belonging and find a place to call home."
We do this work because we believe we share in the responsibility of raising children, and it is our integrated efforts that provide the chance for success many times over.
We have, and can, change lives. We help these children feel stronger and have more faith in themselves and the adults around them.

Services Offered
Family Support Services
The Family Support Services Program is designed to help families with a challenging child in the home. Our ambition is to help families through crisis, provide them ongoing support, and assist them in developing better skills for living with their children.
Indiidual and Family Counseling
Due to the expertise of our therapists, we have clinical specialties sought by families in need. We frequently see children in families emerging from domestic violence, children impacted by conflicts between divorcing or divorced parents, and children who have experienced early life trauma or loss. The specific needs that bring children and parents in to see our therapists may manifest as behavior problems, difficulty managing depression, anxiety, panic, or other overwhelming feelings, poor school performance, or escalating conflict in the family and school.
Clinical Specialties:
- Specialization with very young children using both individual therapy and dyadic developmental psychotherapy between young children and their parents. - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat mood disorders in children and adolescents. - Positive parenting plans for children with ADD/ADHD. - Trauma and complex trauma treatment for children of all ages using Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. - Adolescent and Young Adult treatment for a range of issues from family and peer conflicts to behavioral problems to serious emotional problems. - Family Therapy to address patterns of conflict that have developed through a confusion of roles, exceptional stress in the family, and multi-generational issues that have not been treated. - Circle of Security Parenting Training individually or in a group. - Parent Management Training individually or in a group.

Qualifying for assistance from Montana's program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to Montana's program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
