Psychoeducational assessments - are used to evaluate a child's cognitive, social, and emotional abilities and challenges. Through the process of assessment, a greater holistic understanding of the child is attained so that both the strengths and unique needs of that child can be better understood and supported. Usually, children are referred for assessment when they are having difficulties at home and/or school. Children who exhibit advanced or superior cognitive abilities which may lead to boredom in class will also benefit from a psychoeducational assessment.
Perissos - is the Greek word meaning abundant and is found in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." This program is all about helping those who experience the unique challenges and stressors of serving in and around ministry achieve an "abundant" life. We achieve this by providing a safe place where authentic relationships can be built and maintained with others who experience similar struggles. There is a clear need for a ministry specifically designed for the challenges of those who are called to work in ministry.
Fees and Payment
We are often asked the question, how much does counseling cost? It is very important to us that people who are in need get help regardless of ability to pay. We are not able offer our services for free, but we do offer a sliding scale that is based on household income to make it more affordable.
We also offer discounts to referrals of agencies that are partners with His Story Coaching and Counseling (e.g., GRACE, We are Cherished, Real Choices, and Dallas Christian College).
Our top fee for counseling is $85 per 50-minute session to see a Licensed Counselor. Our top fee to see a practicum student is $55 per 50-minute session. The fee to see a counselor with a PhD is $100. A consult with the Executive Director is $125. These fees are significantly below community standard rates. Due to high demand for our services, we require 24 hours' notice for cancellation of an appointment. We charge a $35 cancellation fee for missed appointments or for those cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
