Services Offered
Outpatient Mental Health Center - A comprehensive, community mental health center located on the FSI Gaithersburg Nonprofit Village campus offers a full range of psychiatric assessment and treatment services.
Offsite and Home-Based Counseling Services - Offers offsite and home-based mental health counseling and family treatment services from a licensed mental health professional.
Montgomery Station - A community, recovery-focused psychiatric rehabilitation program serving adults in Montgomery County with mental illness-services include a day program, residential rehabilitation, a mental health vocational program, and support for independent living. Four HUD, Section 811 projects are operated.
Independence Program - A community, recovery-focused psychiatric rehabilitation program serving adults in Prince George's County with mental illness-services include residential rehabilitation, a mental health vocational program, and support for independent living.
Transitional Age Youth - A community, recovery-focused psychiatric rehabilitation program serving transitional age youth (18-24) in Montgomery County with mental illness is provided. Services include a day program, residential rehabilitation, a mental health vocational program, and support for independent living.
Care & Connections for Families (CCF) - Provides services for youth (ages 6 to 18) and their families who seek stabilization support after a youth has experienced a mental health crisis. This program is designed to provide short-term intensive in-home mental health services, as well as connection to longer-term services to ensure long-term stabilization. Parents and caregivers will work together with their youth, their therapist, and their in-home stabilizers to construct a plan toward resilience and recovery.
Health Home - Provides certified care specialists, registered nurses, entitlements specialists and other healthcare professionals to help manage your overall health and wellness. Health Home provides a unique opportunity to combine health and mental health care, addressing behavioral, physical and social needs.
Ontrack Maryland - Specialized programs for the early identification, evaluation, and treatment of adolescents and young adults who have started experiencing certain troubling thoughts and/or experiences, or exhibiting changes in behavior.
School-Based Services - Our programs provide comprehensive assessments, case management, youth development programs, mental health counseling and crisis management to students and families that will not only improve the success and well-being of individual students, but will also contribute to a positive school climate and learning environment.
Substance Abuse Services - Our Substance Abuse Programs are created to treat not just the individual, but also the family. Whether it is an adult or adolescent struggling with addiction, we take similar approaches to helping them stay clean and sober. We provide substance abuse assessment, education, and counseling in an outpatient setting. While this is a disease that knows no age, race, gender or socioeconomic status, we provide a variety of support services that can help put individuals on the right track to recovery.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
