* Individual and group counseling - We offer evidence-based practice drug counseling treatment. We can help you end your heroin, marijuana, alcohol, or any substance use problem. Our Individual & Group Counseling sessions will help you maintain your sobriety and continue the road toward recovery.
* Off-Site Counseling - We can now come to you to offer alcohol and drug counseling services to clients in the community, at a school, criminal justice setting or any site where clients may be in need of services. This innovative program also allows us to provide services to a patient who is unable to attend a session and conduct outreach visits to assess individuals in the community. Our Off-Site Counseling program is very useful for our elderly population and those who may have difficulty traveling or people with disabilities.
* Educational Series Groups - We offer a wide range of informative group sessions such as: anger management (certificate given upon completion), video game addiction, domestic violence, gambling addiction, smoking cessation, and many more. Our Educational Series Groups will help keep you on your road to recovery and happiness.
* Drug Prevention - The Drug Prevention Program includes various services to enhance the healthy development of young people. Many of these services are in the form of after school programs, summer programs, and leisure time activities coupled with an evidence-based practice component. Our prevention program is designed to prevent young people from drug and alcohol experimentation by creating an environment in the community that discourages substance use. Our prevention program also uses evidence-based practice drug prevention counseling.
* Youth Counseling - The Youth Counseling Program provides counseling services to youth (ages 5 to 20) and their families who may be facing a variety of issues. Counseling services also utilize casework and referral services whenever needed. We always encourage family involvement in the youth counseling program activities and services. When appropriate, counseling services can be coordinated to be facilitated in schools, municipal and community agencies in Freeport and the surrounding communities/villages. Our counseling program also uses evidence-based practice interventions.

Qualifying for assistance from New York's program usually depends on the severity of your condition and financial circumstance. Read our full guide to New York's program.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
