Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education, health and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 200 professionals and 2,500 trained volunteers work together to provide our communities with a wide range of responsive and innovative services. Our multi-faceted network of health, education and human service programs give individuals and families the tools needed to establish a strong educational foundation, overcome complex and critical problems, carry on healthy productive lives and achieve personal improvement.

* Individual, group, couples and family therapy for children, adults, and seniors.
* Evidenced Based Practices to help children and adults who have experienced a debilitating trauma and/or is experiencing interpersonal conflict, intrapersonal conflict, and/ or depressive and anxiety symptoms such as but not limited to Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) , Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Mindfulness Self-Compassion Therapy.
* Trauma Response services to respond and assist during an array of crisis situations affecting available to individuals, schools, businesses, and community organizations.
* Wellness & Prevention services that offer an array of supportive and educational workshops and support groups on health and mental health topics and parenting issues.
The target population for this program is the vulnerable at-risk population (adults, children, or families up to age 65) in CT, living at 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) who are uninsured, documented.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
