Riverbend Community Mental Health provides specialized behavioral health services in central New Hampshire for children, adolescents, adults and their families. We have over 300 staff including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and counselors, and together have expertise in working with all populations.

We believe that children and adolescents are best served within their families and communities, with easy access to high quality and comprehensive behavioral health services. Riverbend's Children's Intervention Program serves children, youth and families with challenges that require short-term or moderate treatment, and those with more complex difficulties who need more comprehensive services.

Eligibility and admission guidelines: Our services are available to children and adolescents under the age of 18 with behavioral and emotional difficulties.
We do not accept referrals exclusively for custody evaluations, supervised visitation, or other services that are not mental health treatment-related. We also do not accept new clients for psychiatric evaluations or medication services only.
Adult services
Riverbend provides comprehensive behavioral health care services for adults 18 years and older with challenges that range from life-time events to substance misuse to age-related challenges to more complex issues.

Addiction Recovery Services
Choices Addiction Recovery Services provides separate and distinct programs and services for adults (18+) and adolescents (14+). Our outpatient programs offer help and hope to those whose substance misuse is affecting the quality of their life. As part of Riverbend, Choices provides an integrated and multidisciplinary approach designed to help break the cycle of dependency and addiction to alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, opiates, benzodiazepines, and countless other substances.
Choices services for adolescents (14+) are based upon proven treatment approaches that are designed to equip young people with the skills they need to make better choices and explore new, positive pathways into the future. *Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) *Family support services, including interventions *Individual, group, and family therapy *Drug Testing
Choices Addiction Recovery Services provide help and hope to adults (18+) whose substance misuse is affecting the quality of their life. Our outpatient services are based on proven, evidence-based programs and are designed to support each step of the recovery journey. *Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) *Family services, including intervention *Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) *Evaluation and treatment of co-occurring mental health issues (such as depression and anxiety) *Individual, couples, and family counselling *Court ordered treatment and LADC evaluations *Facilitated referrals for other services
Afternoon and evening programs enable most clients to maintain work, family, and school commitments throughout treatment. Psychiatric Emergency Services Riverbend is an essential part of our community's network of first responders providing emergency crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization. Telephone crisis assessment services are available around the clock. We also staff the Concord Hospital Emergency Department to provide safety and lethality assessments which might result in hospitalizations, discharges to the community with safety plans, and/or referrals to community-based services.
Fees and Payment
Riverbend strives to make mental health services available to the community. To that end, Riverbend programs accept most insurance plans. In addition many programs offer a sliding fee scale and all programs are open to developing mutually-agreeable payment plans for uninsured individuals and/or families that qualify.

Services Offered To: Adults Couples Teens Children
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
