Children's Mental Health
Visalia Youth Services (VYS) - An outpatient children's mental health services program. VYS is a contracted service of and these materials are presented in care of the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency. The program provides a wide range of mental health services to children, youth and their families at the clinic, at school sites, and in the community. Some of these services are: * Individual and Family Counseling * Group Counseling * Mental Health Rehabilitation Services * Therapeutic Behavioral Services
Sequoia Youth Services (SYS) - An outpatient children's mental health services program. SYS is a contracted service of the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency. The program provides a wide range of mental health services to children and youth at the clinic and at school sites. Some of these services are: * Individual and Family Counseling * Day Treatment- Intensive * Group Counseling and Socialization * Therapeutic Behavioral Services
Adult Mental Health
Central County One Stop Clinic - A community-based program that focuses on youth (12-17) and transitional age youth (18-24) within underserved and unserved communities. The program endeavors to provide outreach services using culturally and linguistically sensitive approaches to all individuals. Central County One Stop Clinic is a contracted service of Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency under the Mental Health Services Act. Some of the services available are: * Family support services, partnership counseling and program individualized care * Anger management groups * Conflict resolution groups * Gang diversion, prevention and intervention counseling * Education and counseling on coping and life skills
Co-Occurring Disorders Program - An integrated, comprehensive, consumer-centered mental health services program that focuses on adults with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. This program works to support the consumer in recovery and self-sufficiency. The Co-Occurring Disorders Program is a contracted service of Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health under the Mental Health Services Act.
North County One-Stop Clinic - A community based organization that provides an array of wellness and recovery based mental health and supportive services that are easily accessible and culturally competent. We coordinate services to reduce negative outcomes associated with severe and persistent mental illness. Our services are provided for children/youth 0 through 15 years of age, transitional age youth (TAY) 16 to 25 years of age, adults 26 through 59 years of age, and older adults with severe mental illness (SMI), residing in rural underserved areas North of Tulare County. Some of the services available are: * Individual, Family, and Group Therapy * Co-occurring Disorder Groups * Evidence-Based Interventions
First Street Center-Full Service Partnership Program - An MHSA funded Full Service Partnership serving approximately 105 adult individuals with severe mental illness (SMI), referred by the County of Fresno AB 109 Probation Department. FSC-FSP provides comprehensive mental health/co-occurring services and works in conjunction with the Fresno County Probation Department to fulfill agreed upon treatment goals. FSC-FSP focuses on client strengths/abilities to successfully gain independence and self-sufficiency in the community.
Outpatient Substance Abuse
Aftercare Program - Provides a comprehensive program of counseling and testing to facilitate the cessation of all illegal substance abuse for program clients. These drug abuse prevention, counseling, and mental health treatment services are provided under contract with the U.S. Court System. Some of the services available are: * Individual and group counseling * Group and family psychotherapy
Integrated Services for Mentally Ill Paroll-Clients - Turning Point offers a day treatment program for parolees who suffer from substance abuse as well as a diagnosed mental illness. The program focus is stabilization of parolees in order to provide a safe haven for reintegration into the community and the reduction of recidivism.
Turning Point Youth Services - Turning Point offers state-of-the-art substance abuse treatment and prevention for the whole family, and for the whole person. The recovery program helps the person and their family members follow their own path of healing - emotionally and spiritually. The Turning Point Youth Services program meets the rigorous standards for State and Drug Medi-Cal certification. These drug abuse prevention and counseling services are provided under contract with the Tulare County Health & Human Service Agency, Prevention Services Division.
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
