The center focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as well as other types of therapy. A wide variety of concerns and conditions can be addressed including substance use and psychiatric disorders, stress or trauma, family and relationship issues, emotional or sexual abuse, and dealing with life's unexpected challenges. Maple Health Home - Maple Health Home is a setting where a team of health professionals work together to provide behavioral health care treatment and medical treatment for persons with mental health concerns all in one place. These may be depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. The goal is to help patients manage their chronic mental and physical health conditions well enough that they do not affect how the patients want to lead their lives. The team works to coordinate all of the treatment services that the individual receives within the community. The team may include: a psychiatrist, a physician, a nurse, a therapist, a case manager, a peer support specialist, and a medical assistant. Family and other health care workers can also be part of the team.
Adult Counseling - Counseling for adults is available at several Cherry Health primary care locations. Therapists can help with stress, life changes, sadness, worry, grief, trauma, relationship problems, communication problems, and low self-esteem.
Child and Adolescent Counseling - Counseling for children and adolescents is available on-site at our pediatric health centers. The therapists can work with children and their families on behavior problems, mood concerns, family relationship issues, low self-esteem, friend problems, communication issues, and trauma.
Integrated Behavioral Health - Several of our primary care locations have behavioral health counseling available on site, allowing patients to receive care for their medical and behavioral health in one location. The medical providers and therapists work together to provide complete health care for the patient. Therapists can help with stress, life changes, sadness, worry, grief, trauma, relationship problems, communication problems, low self-esteem, and health coaching, to name a few.
Intensive Outpatient Program - The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for individuals with a substance use disorder who require more than weekly counseling. The program provides monitoring several times a week in a supportive group setting. The group meets three times a week for three hours, for an average of 5 weeks. This level of care is appropriate for those who are experiencing high stress life circumstances that make it more difficult to cope with urges and cravings to use substances, and those who have not been able to stabilize their substance use in a traditional outpatient setting. IOP is for individuals who are able and willing to commit to a structured program requiring regular attendance and active participation. We understand each person in this program comes with very diverse issues and problems, and we are sensitive to everyone's needs, personality, communication style, readiness to change and personal preferences. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that takes into consideration these preferences within the structure and guidelines of the outpatient addiction program.
Relapse Prevention - This outpatient treatment group provides a safe and supportive learning environment for persons recovering from substance use disorders. This service is ideal for those who have already completed other treatment programs such as IOP, and need continuing care or for those who have had some recovery success but struggle with relapse.
Substance Use Disorders Counseling - Cherry Health offers multiple substance use disorder services from intensive outpatient to traditional outpatient services. Outpatient substance use treatment is provided by experienced credentialed therapists and is generally facilitated through the use of individual one-to-one sessions lasting 45 to 60 minutes. All therapists are capable of treating persons with both mental health and substance use disorders. Therapists are trained to help patients reduce risky behaviors related to using substances such as tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, and other addictive substances.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
