We are a non-profit social service organization following the teachings of the Catholic Church. We offer services and programs in the following: Burial Assistance, Counseling, Family Enrichment including Elder Ministry, Natural Family Planning and Respect Life, Food and Clothing, Pregnancy Support, Adoption, Foster Care, Teen Parenting, Refugee Resettlement and Assistance, Immigration, Translations, Social Concerns and Advocacy including CCHD & CRS, Education, Public Policy and Office of Economic Opportunity.
Services are provided at the three regional offices: Asheville, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem. There are two satellite office locations in Greensboro and Murphy.

We serve the poor, the vulnerable, and those in need of our services. Our services are available to all of God's people regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, or economic/social background. Through our services we seek to strengthen families, build communities, and reduce poverty Counseling Catholic Charities provides professional mental health services in four locations throughout western North Carolina. Individual, couples/family, and group therapy (in some locations) are provided in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Asheville. Bilingual counseling is offered in our Asheville location.
Mental Health counselors: * Meet each individual where they are on their personal journey and help them address their challenges on a cognitive, emotional and behavioral level. * Operate within the social teachings of the Catholic Church. * Consistently provide professional evidence based therapeutic interventions that are most effective in treating behavioral health problems ranging from relationship, stress and adjustment problems to acute and even chronic mental illness.
Children and Youth Catholic Charities offers an array of services dedicated to enriching the lives of children and youth. Programs assist in promoting growth and resolving issues in a young person's life. From helping refugee children increase educational success to resolving difficulties in parent/child relationships, Catholic Charities provides a safe, nurturing environment for children to achieve their full potential.

A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
