NorthKey Community Care has been providing quality mental health, substance use and developmental disabilities services in the eight county Northern Kentucky community since 1966. Our offices are located throughout the region to help make access to services convenient.
Services Offered
Family and Child Services NorthKey Community Care provides services to help you improve the mental health of your children and family. Our professional staff understands behavioral health issues and how to help your children, and you, improve communication and reduce family tensions.
We work with you and your child to assess the factors creating your stress and provide assistance through individual therapy, family therapy and intensive case management. When necessary, our psychiatric services team assists with medication evaluation and medication management.
Outpatient Therapy Services NorthKey clinicians provide outpatient individual and family counseling services based in research and thoughtfully delivered to children and families experiencing mental health/behavioral health issues. Our professional clinicians assess your child's strengths and challenges and work with you and your child to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Crisis Stabilization Services Crisis stabilization services are designed to be available when you need them. These services help you during periods of high stress and at critical points in your treatment and recovery process. Effective use of crisis stabilization services helps you maintain treatment progress and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations during a mental health crisis.
School-Based Services When your child has a mental health or behavioral health issue, providing services to him or her in the school setting can have benefits. Also, sometimes the school-setting is where a child's struggles first become noticed. NorthKey's school-based clinicians work with students, parents, teachers, counselors and other school professionals, as part of the school team, to effectively identify, plan and respond when social and personal issues arise. IMPACT Case Management If your child is diagnosed with a severe emotional disturbance (SED), NorthKey's IMPACT case management services helps you gain access to services that benefit you and your child. IMPACT case management services are designed to be responsive to the specialized service needs of children with SED.
Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative The Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative is a specialized community focused service designed to improve a child's mental health and create increased resiliency to developing mental health issues. This initiative receives funding support from the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHDID) and the Department of Public Health (DPH). Adult Services When you are experiencing a mental health and behavioral health issue, NorthKey Community Care offers a wide array of high quality, accessible mental health and behavioral health services to help you develop and improve coping strategies, improve mental health and sustain recovery from mental illness. Our Adult services are targeted to individuals who are eighteen years of age and older and include a range of outpatient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support options. These services are available at our outpatient service locations throughout the Northern Kentucky region.
NorthKey clinicians use proven approaches to assessment and treatment. Following your initial assessment, your treatment may include follow-up counseling (individual, couple, family and group treatment), case management, medication evaluation and management and other support services for a personalized recovery plan. Substance Use Services Our substance use services are provided by knowledgeable treatment staff, based in current research and are delivered in a thoughtful and compassionate manner. NorthKey Community Care offers a variety of evidence-based substance use treatment services to assist you to actively engage in your recovery process. Your services begin with a comprehensive assessment and development of a personalized treatment plan for you and your family. We offer outpatient substance use services in several levels of frequency and intensity to facilitate the development and implementation of your personal recovery plan.

Developmental Disabilities Services NorthKey provides a broad array of services to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) as well as helps guide individuals and families to access useful information about all community resources available to them. We are here to help you make informed choices about the service and supports you and your loved one need to maintain strong community relationships and connections .
Regional Prevention Services NorthKey believes it is important to invest in prevention of unhealthy substance use as well as in treatment of problems related to substance use. NorthKey's Regional Prevention Center collaborates with local community-based coalitions to develop and implement strategies within our schools, churches, businesses, local community agencies and governmental agencies to increase our community's capacity to promote positive choices regarding substance use.
Fees and Payment
NorthKey is a participating provider with many major insurance plans, Medicaid and Medicare. We also seek additional funding through grants and contracts for specialized treatment services that may not be paid for by insurance carriers. Certain qualifying individuals may benefit from a sliding fee scale to reduce their cost of services.

Services Offered To: Adults Couples Teens Children
A community counseling agency is a group therapy practice that offers affordable mental health services. Most are independent non-profit agencies, state agencies, or publicly-funded agencies. A few may restrict who is eligible for services, so it is a good idea to check when you call.
Community counseling agencies are generally more affordable than other therapy providers, but how much more affordable they are will depend on whether you qualify for a discount or sliding scale fee (or if they accept your insurance). Many, but not all, have a policy that they won't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. You should ask about their fees when you first call.
Expect to talk to kind people who want to help you find the care you need. Most community agencies strive to connect you with a live person within 24 hours, if not immediately. If you're asked to hold or leave a message, don't give up; just leave a message and wait. You should hear back pretty quickly.
Most agencies try to set up an initial assessment appointment within a week (some do within 24 hours), though the waitlist to start therapy is usually longer—about a few weeks on average. If you're not eligible or if the agency is not right for you, it's usually still worth it to call or drop in, because staff are knowledgeable about local options and can often refer you to one.
