The Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeastern Michigan is an interfaith pastoral counseling center. We provide counseling and psychotherapy that integrates the best in psychological and psychiatric theory and practice with the resources of the client's religious/faith tradition.

Services Offered

Individual Counseling
A person meets individually with a counselor to individually discuss problems and concerns. This may be the primary method of treatment. There are occasions when another person, important in the life of the counselee, is included in treatment.

Couples Counseling
In this setting a couple will meet together with a counselor or therapist to identify those problems or issues which make their relationship less than what they want it to be. There may be some individual sessions with each person included in this form of treatment.

Couples and Families come to Samaritan Counseling Center to address a wide range of concerns. When a member of a family is troubled it impacts everyone in the circle of relationships. Several of our clinicians are licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. We also have an advanced Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor on staff who can help families through the pain of addiction.

Specially trained clinicians who provide compassionate care to people who are transgendered
Counseling and educational testing for children and adolescents with behavioral and learning challenges
Counseling for people who have experienced sexual abuse
Counseling for people during times of grief.

Art Therapy
Samaritan Counseling Center has two registered art therapists on staff as well as other clinicians who have been trained in using it.

At our Center we use art therapy

* In public schools in a ten-week program helping children and adolescents who are considered to be at risk to build resiliency and stronger coping skills
* In private counseling sessions with children, adolescents and adults
* Given the variety of supplies to do art, donations to purchase them are welcome

Congregational Care
Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeastern Michigan was established as a pastoral counseling center. We are committed to including a person's faith in their counseling and journey toward wholeness. Our clinicians provide spiritually integrated care to children, adults, couples and families.

Grief Support
SCC has staff trained in grief counseling which may be included as a focus of individual sessions.
